Two very different keyboard works--a Messiaen organ piece, and a transcription of some Parsifal scenes for piano.

Mstislav Rostropovich - Bach: Cello Suites 2 cd. Found this cd set at the local goodwill for 50 cents, really enjoying it. Got a bunch of other interesting 50 cent classical cds there too and others as well, got around 65 cds there yesterday since they put a bunch of new cds in the goodwill bins. Another time a few months ago the goodwill put out about 1000! cds and I bought around 140 of them, the goodwill here charges only 50 cents per cd or record so I've gotten a lot of great deals from it.

Cool Quartet* With Lina Nyberg Featuring Éric La Casa* – Dancing In Tomelilla
I especially like the first 3 tracks on this one, the other tracks are pretty decent as well.

Matthew Revert/Vanessa Rossetto Earnest Rubbish
Another great Erstwhile release.

i'm a fan, too (though he wrote too much), especially his pieces including woodwinds and the slow and brooding stuff, like the first movement here:walto wrote:I've been listening to a bunch of Charles Koechlin lately. Beautiful stuff.
also he must have been a very kind and encouraging man, he had the greatest beard, and took nice photographs:

Agreed. I love that quintet. Poignant. He's like a successor to Faure.Wombatz wrote:i'm a fan, too (though he wrote too much), especially his pieces including woodwinds and the slow and brooding stuff, like the first movement here:walto wrote:I've been listening to a bunch of Charles Koechlin lately. Koechlin -- Le Docteur Fabricius / Vers la Voûte étoilée (Wonderful rec, boys! Thank you! Love the sound, the orchestration. Looking forward to more.)

in partial repayment, Walter, here's the answer to a question about a version of 'Four In One,' 8+ minutes, you dug it and bought it and asked about the personnel on it 6 weeks ago on a jazz board in a galaxy far far away. Just read it and recognized the source, which I have:

Thelonious Monk -- At the Blackhawk (Rouse and Land on twin tenors! Monk's quartet of the moment: Charlie Rouse on tenor, John Ore on bass, and the ubiquitous, ever-smiling, and dearly missed Billy Higgins on drums. The quartet was augmented for the one night only by Harold Land on tenor and Joe Gordon on trumpet.)
