emmerson string quartet - beethoven late string quartets
good compared to other beethhoven stuff i've heard; nice and intangible.. quartet no. 12 es-dur op. 127 - 3. scherzo. vivace might be one of the best things ever.

Joanna Newsom - Divers

Gave this one another spin the other night, and am obsessed with it. Truly awesome. Not too many layers, just straight up kickass and beautiful songs and singing. rec'd.

yes, my top album of 2015.

I saw her live a month ago, stunning recreations of songs from all her albums by a small, incredible band, all multi instrumentalists, but mainly they played on 2 violins, 1 drum and 1 guitar. I cried on 3 separate occasions during the show.

The Music of Weber, Callahan, Goretzki & Zimmerlin
Christian Buck & Christian Wolfarth

This is massive album
It is also a departure from Wandelweiser. (or maybe is where the Wandelweiser will be in a few years).
The interpretations of Christian Buck & Christian Wolfarth are a matter of fact. Stripped down concrete and accurate and precise. This disc leaves behind 4:33. There is no conflict between sound, composition or whatever else is out there.

P.S.
Katharina Weber, whose track '6 Duos for Guitar and drums' is featured on this disc, is also a mighty pianist herself worth investigating.

I've never had the chance to see her perform live. Hopefully sometime, though I don't go out too much at night anymore, though that should change when I move house soon, to a more lively area.

Jacqueline Humbert & David Rosenboom - Daytime Viewing

Some really delightful moments on it. Shame they didn't do more albums like that.

I'm very happy to have found Koenraad Ecker. Picture is clickable! It's one of the a rare online-available modern electroacoustic composer specimens.

Tyshawn Sorey, Alloy (with pianist Cory Smythe and bassist Chris Tordini)

Sorey is a talented guy:

Studied with Lucier, Braxton, and Lerdahl.

he should maybe hire a new drummer though. he's wonderful elsewhere, but in what i've heard from his own groups i find his playing strangely useless, as if every distinct move might endanger or unduly remove the listener's attention from the composerly framework.
