The IHM metal thread pt. 2

Due to the unholy milestone reached in the previous thread, it has come now for a new start.

Things I'm currently annoying my neighbors with today:

Venus Star - Nigredo Expulsion
Abysmal Lord - demo (members of Grave Ritual doing their best bestial-death approximation. It's actually quite good, if not original.)
Sammath - Godless Arrogance
Beketh Nexehmu - demo (crazy good atmospheric black metal from Sweden)

NP: King Diamond- Abigail

This is the one in which Diamond's falsetto makes sense for me, and the riffs and arrangements are stellar. I wonder how would have Emperor turned out to be without the massive influence of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond.

Awesome album. Agreed. Their influence is everywhere.

'Rigor Mortis' by Rigor Mortis is great trash metal. Just discovered that. It has been out since 1988.

The new Godflesh is available for streaming, and it's utterly crushing. Ugly (in the good sense) riffs and hooks aplenty. Perhaps their best after Streetcleaner.

Abigail, Them, all Mercyful Fate stuff is pure gold for me.

OT: should I feel ashamed for listening to...ehm...Scorpions ?

This is bizarre, hindu themes with technical death metal. Reminds a bit of Nile.

Not in my book, up until Blackout they're all right :)

I have always avoided them like a plague but Blackout and Love At First Sting are a lot listening fun.

Is it just me or the best thing to ever come out of the Entombed saga are those first two demos by Nihilist? Still sound incredibly good, not bad at all for a bunch of fifteen year old kids.

I have a preference for Left Hand Path, but that's also because I heard that first and lived with it for a much longer time...

Also enjoying the recent releases from two of my favoite Norwegian underdogs, Khold and 1349, both pretty solid.

I like all their records up to Wolverine Blues. Also, can't understand why some accused them of being sellouts after that record, considering that their first attempts at the black and roll formula are as old as those old Nihilist demos.

Into these guys lately, Finnish band:

Nice riffs, I think you'll like it if you're into Satanic Warmaster, Kristallnacht or similar.

YOB's 'Clearing the Path to Ascend' is really good
