this isn't actually made by but it is for children:

it actually gave me a good idea, my sister just had a new kid a couple of days ago, named mark - i'm gonna contact mic him up and feed the signal through a dod buzz box and a meatbox, and record the results, as i'll probably never be aloud near him again after this :-(

I can only speak for my children:

The Raymond Scott "Soothing Sounds" series is great for babies and toddlers.

Image

Totally great zone-out electronics and synths that babies LOVE.

Alongside apple-cheeked watercolor paintings of infants, the original cover design for the Soothing Sounds series of records bore the charming inscription, "An Infant's Friend in Sound." Composer Harry Warnow was already legendary (as "Raymond Scott") for his whimsical electronic and big-band novelty musics. With this 1962-63 series, Scott turned his astonishing array of invented and modified keyboards and recording techniques toward pure electronic music with an infant-friendly spin. Intended as "aural toys" for the nursery, Soothing Sounds' deceptively simple "tic-tocs" and unthreatening seesaw melodies play on the calming properties of repetition--much like music boxes, Fisher-Price's mobiles, and the comforting "Again!" video mentality of the Teletubbies. Despite endorsement from the Gesell Institute of Child Development, the records sold poorly. But they had a curious afterlife, prefiguring such "adult" descendents as ambient music ("invented" by Brian Eno in 1975) and the mechanical pop-tronic textures of Kraftwerk and Gary Numan.

Woody Guthrie made a bunch of music for kids (his own mainly), not sure if that stuff's still available or not though.
You, of all people, should understand

Tom Paxton has a lot of good stuff for kids. Carole King's childrens record was a big hit at my house. My kids also like the Beatles, the Flaming Lips' last 2 records, and the Ramones.

Yazoo's "The Story That The Crow Told Me" Vols 1 & 2. (Album subtitle is "Early American Rural children's songs").

The 'Bagpuss' CD (nice 70s folk CD of songs from a UK kids animation is great)

Then of course there's the Tangerine Awkestra – a free-improv ensemble of 3-6 year old kids allegedly influenced by Art Ensemble of Chicago. Their music's pretty rubbish though. Not a patch on the same label's excellent Thai Elephant Orchestra albums.

...apparently the same label has done a similar hip-hop project
