two really's is a lot, but one thing I regret is missing the window around 2005 to record the fantastic Kelley/Daniell/Meehan trio.

Whoa, yeah -- that was a really, really good trio in concert (at Erstquake 2).jon abbey wrote:two really's is a lot, but one thing I regret is missing the window around 2005 to record the fantastic Kelley/Daniell/Meehan trio.
Re: Things we really, really regret
they were better at quake 1. i think the second really is justified.

yeah, they were amazing at the first one, very good at the second. they had plans to record the weekend of the first one which I would have likely grabbed for Erst, but Greg got food poisoning, so it didn't happen.

Biggest regret?
When my wife got her first job at the University of Canterbury, we had to sell our house in Grand Rapids...It was taking forever and we were beginning to despair..
(At that time I had about fifteen hundred vinyl Lps...a very eclectic collection..my most valued possession.)
Finally we had an offer..the guy who made it was a part time DJ and was quite taken with all those discs.
He said "I'll meet your price if you throw in the records.."
I thought "well, lugging all that weight down to the southern hemisphere will be pretty rough and anyways...it's all replaceable (HA!).."
We negotiated and I left the house and 80% of the vinyl with this lucky man..
I should have said no and stored it all with my sister..
Most of the records I took down with me were in a container lost at sea..
Damn..
Other than that I regret pawning off all my guitar pedals down there in Christchurch to pay off parking tickets....Sigh.

can't decide if that is better/more better than the sax one.

I certainly do! Notice that towards the middle of that track, he gets the sax out for several minutes of erotically charged sub-Kenny G-isms.billygomberg wrote:but do you really, really regret it?
I also really, really regret not buying a copy of the Gordons' second LP when I had the chance 15 years ago, when Flying Nun were still flogging them off from their website for NZ$25.
Re: Things we really, really regret
I really, really regret not recording the last show of my 2008 bike tour with Kurt Weisman:
After 27 shows, over the course of 2 months and 2000 miles (New England to Georgia) we finally came to rest at Wonderoot in Atlanta... For the second most poorly attended show of the tour, which was particularly lame as we had heard from people in Athens how sweet a space and scene there was there, and how we were bound to have a good last show... only the 2 random girls from myspace that I had been able to come up with to open for us showed up, were fairly awful (debatable, I suppose), and the annoyance of all that, coupled with the weird energy of having completed the tour, all came out as both Kurt and my best (again, arguably, buuut...) sets of the tour, which I totally failed to record out of some aspect of ticked-off-edness at no one showing up...
bah.

Re: Things we really, really regret
because there were only 4 people in the audience, it was really quiet too... that was part of it, those girls had no respect for the sanctity of the last show of the 2 month tour, and were tittering until we went on, I think we both played extra intensely out of spite for their irreverence, heh heh heh!
