where can i find shit like this, i don't know how to describe it, and usually every time i go after something like this i get sidetracked into lounge and cheesy theatre organ records (the happy kind, i'm looking for the spooky kind):

http://boomp3.com/listen/bybjxs3kv_x/no ... leep-intro

i've tried the gamut of recordings of 1800s types of organs (pump organs, etc), and still no luck. and i can't seem to find any vintage (radio) soap opera records.

any recommendations as to where to start?

thank you, i appreciate it.

You should really check this out double CD on Touch. It's a compilation, all based on the organ or the idea of the organ (as exemplifed wonderfully on Toshiya Tsunoda's contribution). Other highlights are pieces by BJ Nilsen, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Finnbogi Pétursson, and Tom Recchion, all of which are very spooky to say the least.

Touch has put out at least 4 other discs of organ related music, but this is the only one I've heard. Perhaps this is not the kind of spooky vibe you are looking for though...

Though they certainly don't put out "vintage (radio) soap opera records", the clip you linked to made me think initially of Caroliner... A lot of their recordings use pump organs, and their shtick (which is a little too much for some) is based on trying to recreate "a nightmare vision of ergot-poisoned Wisconsin settlers of the 1800s"

(though I guess this is a little off topic)

My favorite organ composer of the 20th Century is a French organist (and apparently fantastic improviser) named Charles Tournemire. A lot of his stuff is available, and, presumably, you can check out clips online.

Messiaen's organ music is also highly regarded, but it's too declamatory (i.e., not contrapuntapuntal enough) for my taste.

Carnival Of Souls soundtrack.

There's some great spooky organ tunes on Nora Keyes' "songs to by for the golden age of nothing" they also feature some great evil old witch cackling.

If you're looking for old radio, try searching archive.org for 'old time radio', they have quite a large and varied collection there.

I have mp3s which don't sound like ripped from lp/ the film, so I guess yes. haven't checked though.

admittedly not organ; but this record still might be of interest for its 'spooky' vibe.

If you like the "Carnival of the Souls" soundtrack, you may like some of the Les Baxter horror movie tracks.

I think the organ stuff on Erasherhead is nice. Fats Waller, I believe.

OK, I registered to add to what Duif already channeled for me:
Korla Pandit, not all but definitely a song here and there applies. Same for Georges Montalba (LaVey under a different guise)...
Not available by the Residents, sorta... maybe...

I don't think this is what you wanted, but Soriah's "Chao Organica in A Minor" is a little bit spooky.

This one by Lasse Marhaug & one Nils Henrik Asheim (who I'm otherwise unfamiliar with) is great.

Along these modern organ drone lines, Daniel Menche has a couple organ-based albums as well, including Gautlet with Kevin Drumm. He and I just collaborated on another, though in the end, it got much more heavily processed than the others he's done.

Some eerie stuff (to my ears, the unintended eeriness is the best) here, on an album on which several organ alumni demonstrate "the magic organ", an invention by electrotechnician Jaap Keizerswaard who worked on it since the fifties.
