I like your list. Probably one or two I'd omit there, but I think we have similar taste.

Re: new newbie guide to EAI

I forgot to add Fibre by Keith Rowe, Gunther Müller and Thomas Korber recorded in 2004 (released 2006, For 4 Ears). It really needs to be in my list, with the -- before it. I think the hiss on that record is amazing.

Walto, which 2 would you omit, i'm just curious
if you would like my black metal list as well, that would be amazing, haha

I just listened to the sample on the For 4 Ears website and, even though it is only 1 minute long, would have to agree that the hiss is well used.

I haven't heard a few of them, but of those I know, I never cared for Lidingo too much and having both Weather Sky and do is too much 'sining' for me. The main thing is you got nearly all of my faves there (depending on which AMM) and I was kind of surprised to see that.

I don't know too much metal. But I've recently come to really like Meshugga and Cephalic Carnage.

Sorry to point this out, but I wouldn't necessarily go by the lo-fidelity that's posted on any site.....just get the CD to experience the music the way it was meant to be heard!!

Oh no, I definitely wouldn't consider mp3 samples to be definitive excerpts of the music. I was just trying to state my opinion.

This thread has been great for me and I hope it has been helpful to others, who are discovering this music. I really cannot afford to purchase every album that interests me and I'm not completely familiar with the sound palettes of many musicians in this area. So those samples are actually kind of important for putting together my next order from a distro.

Agreed. Tsunoda's work makes a better case for inclusion than Chris Watson, imo.

I'd have to list the Kevin Drumm and Dan Burke "Mort Aux Vaches" album. It's quite impressive in its unwavering severity. Though I don't listen to it too often, I repect the sympathetic collaborative effort and its pristine execution.

I'm pretty sure that all you guys are wrong. EAI was invented by Mark Farner in that feedback drone on the GF live album from 1970 between the two "hits".

I'd say Richard Maxfield and his sine wave music... oh well...

Re: new newbie guide to EAI

Love Me Two Times was probably the first record that really got me interested in EAI. That and the self titled Mersault album led me to check out other musicians and without them I wouldn't have investigated the genre to such an extent.

Also, I'm not really sure if they count as EAI but seeing Spunk live completely by accident while on holiday in Oslo had a massive effect on my musical development. I had something of an epiphany while watching them play and en aldeles forferdelig sykdom is/was another important album for me.
