that you never got anything out of personally, or have intentionally ignored?

I'll start with Joy Division/New Order. I've also never heard a single song by Radiohead, I'm pretty sure, not even Creep. nothing especially against them, but there's only so much time in the day...

My opinion of Dave Brubeck's material has changed over the years. It was a nice enough intro when I was getting into jazz, but now it's gone beyond 'boring' to 'painfully stiff.' I can't claim to have delved that deeply into his backlog, though.

Fleetwood Mac definitely come to mind.

As far as recent, indie acclaim goes, my cognitive dissonance re: The Rapture is really disturbing. Aside from "House of Jealous Lovers," they sound really awful.

Jon, on a dark, stormy night, you should play Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls."

I work out of my house, and I don't go many places that would play Radiohead, I guess. it's obviously possible that I have, but never knowingly was my point. I haven't watched almost any MTV for years, again not because I have anything against it, I just haven't.

but to answer your question more accurately, I purposely avoid public places because I don't like most people.

joy division is my all time favourite band.

does pink floyd count? dark side and latter stuff? new order. there must be amounts of new bands, i'm even lazy to check right now. when i hear something is popular, i never come to checking it out (thinking 'later'). i'm still to hear j-om. all this massive critical acclaim may be often off-putting.

i've tried mightily to get into my bloody valentine's 'loveless'. it's nice and all, but i just don't see what everybody's so ecstatic about.

also, beck is truly annoying, esp. on the new one (although i don't mind some parts of mellow gold).

wow, this is great. the Smiths never did anything for me either, not that I investigated too deeply, but I also never felt the need to...

the only Beck song that I'd argue for is Where It's At, that's a great one. besides that I think he's pretty much the musical equivalent of the Coen Brothers, all promise and flash and not much underneath.

well, except from these not so obvious examples, i'd say that i've never bothered about much 60's and 70's most popular artists, but i don't know if that counts.

oh yes, i've got some: white stripes, asmz (except for their 1st album) or cat power, but i've been trying hard to find them. i think i'm too curious and have too much free time...
