looks pretty amazing, but I'm wondering why 'almost 14 hours of music' is on 16 CDs and not the 12 it would easily fit on.

Is he still writing for them? I haven't opened a copy of the magazine for nearly a year, when my subscription lapsed. Odd to think that somebody whose articles I read as a teenager (Penman started writing for NME in 1977, I think) is still scribbling for them. Will he still be doing so in six years when he starts drawing a state pension? Whatever, maybe he has time / inclination to listen to 14 hours of Kayn, I don't. Send us a link to your review when it comes out, Max.

You'd have to guess it's in an effort to fit breaks to more-or-less natural breaks in the music. I've not heard this one, but the longform Kayn stuff I have heard isn't just total continuum - it has
structure - definable "sections".

Among many "memorable" ones, Penman managed to produce one of the most stupid, superficial and ill-informed reviews I've ever read when someone at Wire decided that he was qualified to talk about Helena Gough's Knot Invariants.

Anyhow, from now on expect a growing number of "Kayn experts" coming out from nowhere.
