I decided to contact Jeff personally, so I'll get back to you on that one. I'm equally curious.

What I do know for certain is that he's put the Impregnable project to rest for good...

I've spent a lot of time with Jeff over the years and he's not really one to look back often.

I talked to him about all of his previous projects while we were on tour at length and he just doesn't really see the point in revisiting ideas unless he returns to them naturally. I don't know if he'd really want to return to doing secret abuse, marble sky, etc., but I don't think he'd want to totally rule out the possibility.

Callow God suffers a similar fate. He sees that label as having a lot of rigidity to it's form and AOC is much looser and more fun for him.

I don't expect to see any more CG releases in the future, but I don't think it's out of the question.

Jeff's been playing a lot around town since moving to Portland and he's been a real inspiring character to a lot of folks here already. Seems like there's a lot of new/renewed energy around here and dudes are making interesting moves. EXCITING. Also Baronic Wall just moved to town and the Wall/Hell collab set I caught last night at the Stunned house was truly inspired, frightening and real.

ALFREDO COSTA MONTEIRO: Aura
(Etude Records, 2010)

'Aura. For percussion and recordings. Recorded in Barcelona in November 2008 at Pilar Subira's studio and composed and mixed at home from february 2009 to march 2010. This piece is composed of a series of recorded sounds, all produced by percussion instruments played by Pilar Subira. Each recordings has been edited, cutting the attack at the point where the impact dissapears and the harmonics start, keeping only the natural resonance and decay of the sound. When I started to record Pilar Subira, I was guided by a sort of intuition, rather than a concrete idea that could give the piece its final shape. Once with the recordings, and after having cut the impact, I had in my hands a huge quantity of diffrent sounds and timbres, and the first problem I was confronted with was that of choice. How many possible combinations would result from more than two hundred recordings ? Facing these awesome probalities, I allowed myself to be swept away by the intrinsic characteristics of each sound and took the decision to work with timbral families and a kind of sonic alliteration. It also appeared to me that working this way, I could built a piece with significant architectures and atmospheres that would lead to a clearer presence. And while I was seized with this process, the piece started to achieve a spectral form, due to the lack of impact, floating slowly in the room: a phantasmic essence, made of almost unidentified sources, as if the soundswere vibrating from inside, that crystallized on what we could call the second presence of percussion instrument: its 're-sonance' and reverberation. Finally, my intention gradually became precise: I went on trying to give this second presence an autonomous sonic body.' Alfredo Costa Monteiro, 2010
