Think it's Verlaine but can't be sure offhand, but Television's portland '78 version of Little Johnny Jewel is incredible, the Marquee Moon and a few others aren't far behind.

I've got to add the best guitar solo ( at least "Rock" solo ) I've ever seen live..

The Butthole Surfers, Club Isis Pontiac Michigan ( 1986? 87? ).

Paul Leary came out alone, before the fog machines and the autopsy footage and the ( nearly ) naked dancer and definitely before Gibby came out..

He played a Hondo Longhorn guitar ( 36 frets? ) plugged straight into an amp for five or ten minutes...What a guitarist.

Damn..
“In a kind of middle-aged crisis, it dawned upon me that there was a possibility that music might not even be an art form.”
