It does help, Tzadik releases so many things by people with whom I'm not at all familiar (basically if it's not Central European festival stuff or produced at a sciency music center in France I'm pretty ???), some of which are probably great. The Elliot Sharp string quartets I was listening to earlier (vol2, also on Tzadik), not so much. On the bright side, Rebecca Saunders' "miniata", on Crimson (Kairos) really came together for me today, the conclusion of the piece revealed some of the structure behind the (standard for her) event-fade dynamic.7/4 wrote:This is the first one that came out in '96, not vol.2 that's about to come out.will wrote:Say more please?7/4 wrote: Mamoru Fujieda - Patterns of Plants
Six suites with different combination's (solo, duo, trios) of koto, sho, zither, harpsichord. The Second Collection features two viola da gama and two koto. All instruments are in some kind of well temperment, just intonation or pythagorean tuning, melodies are generated from information collected from plants.
Real pretty stuff...quite accessible. I think I even gave a copy to my sister for xmas one year. More in common with Lou Harrison than La Monte Young.
I hope that helps.

Glad to help, it's an old one. I certainly have problems keeping up with Tzadik too, there's a lot of releases.will wrote:It does help, Tzadik releases so many things by people with whom I'm not at all familiar (basically if it's not Central European festival stuff or produced at a sciency music center in France I'm pretty ???), some of which are probably great. Re: what are you listening to? a second wave
Yeah, I havent listened to that Folktales in ages. All three cuts are really great. I wish there was a fourth track with all three of them playing together (Rainey, Mueller, and Wollscheid). I tried to pick up the other two volumes, but they were both OOP. I think the Mueller track is my favorite.Dan Warburton wrote:Awesome! Both of them! What a great pairing.. Bhob Rainey meets Tower Of Power! Yeah!
Just checking, yes they are all OOP now, Dan I didnt know you were on the third volume. (!)

Minoru Sato / Ami Yoshida- COMPOSITION for voice performer (ao to ao) 3"
Hmm, can't say this did anything for me at all.
Re: what are you listening to? a second wave
too many sounds? slow it down by a factor of 10 and pop it in a Wandelweiser package, you'll be all set.Richard Pinnell wrote:

I wouldn't champion that one too much, but I like the contrast between 1997 Ami and 2007 Ami, and I like the 2007 track quite a bit.

Hmm, I can see why you don't write reviews...jon abbey wrote:too many sounds? slow it down by a factor of 10 and pop it in a Wandelweiser package, you'll be all set.Richard Pinnell wrote:

I quite liked the concept behind the composition, the idea of trying to recreate the same sound over and over with an unreliable "instrument", the human voice, but the end result didn't add much to that really.
