hahaha, yeah, it's its epicness that cause my guilt.

there's this girl I love that was too drunk to bike home so I insisted I drove her home by car - being wasted myself - this song came on the radio, it was brilliant. wild drunk cardancing, using the dashboard as drumset, the works. one of the best moments of 2008 hahaha.

it appears that they have a hard-on for The Fun Years. Life-sized Psychoses made the #1 spot for their best-of list for 2007, pretty decent record too. I'll have to track down the new one.

the grouper LP? yeah.. it did come out on wax at the same time as the CD, but sold out in a few days.

no distros have it.. and there aren't any more sitting around our house. I think there's going to be a repress eventually, but I wouldn't hold your breath.. Seems like both Liz and Jon are busy with other projects right now

Ah okay, I didn't know there was an original pressing. I looked for a while and couldn't even find traces of it being pressed, so it must have gone pretty fast.

ok.. well. could easily be a year before that reissue sees the light of day.. L's got a lot of other projects she's putting her time and effort into..

Pretty sure it's going to happen tho, so.. not worth paying crazy amounts on ebay or anything

P. Wretch wrote:I was just listening again to one of the few new records I acquired this year, the debut album by the American sister duo Festival. It's somewhat in the same pseudo-folk vein as Espers and Feathers, but more stripped down and very short, with hints of old time hymnody. Highly recommended to fans of the style; others might well find it 'awful'.
funny to see this on here, since i used to be good friends with one of the aforementioned sisters. haven't actually heard any of their music in that manifestation, but i know she does have the potential to produce something powerful

Due to a very protracted house move and related expenses, I bought very little new music after spring this year and am curious to hear people's recommendations in the nebulous area of the psych/noise/drone/freefolk cassette/cdr DIY scene. It may be just my imagination but I thought it featured more heavily in last year's best of lists on this board. I'm currently listening to a Monopoly Child Star Searchers/Angel Snake split cassette (both halves of the Skaters) which knocks pretty much anything else I've heard this year into a cocked hat. I've also enjoyed releases this year by Pod Blotz, Usurper, Sparkling Wide Pressure, Slow Listener, Social Junk, though the individual discs that I've played most are probably Valerio Cosi's Heavy Electronic Pacific Rock and a fantastic self-titled cassette by Flautas del Chiguire on Funeral Folk. Also catching up on the rolling Ashtray Navigations reissues programme (astonishing what Phil Todd was doing ten years ago). But my purchases have been pretty random and I'm keen to hear what if anything people liked in a similar vein.
