you should check out the "slapp happy humphrey" album on alchemy... mineko ikura's subtle folk-styling with jojo hiroshige's guitar-blasts intermittently overlaid. haven't heard it in years, but i think of it often...
Aha... it must have been Mineko Ikura I saw in Japan w/ Hiroshi Hasegawa of C.C.C.C./Astro - Ikura was doing his folksongs while Hasegawa built up dense walls of dronenoise. On a bill w/ Mikami Kan... woah!

Brötzmann/Bailey/Oxley - though that's not possible anymore.

Brötzmann/Oxley actually did a few gigs it seems, at least one in duet, sometime early 90s. Not sure how that would work in 2009 though.

Yes, some strong stuff on that one... and Brötzmann and Bailey actually played more often together than both musicians' discography might suggest.

the weird thing is, I was thinking about that pairing (more than 2 - still "pairing"? grouping.) as a live propisition, though in retrospect, I don't know what soundworm would be able to add to the proceedings... maybe he/she'd have mic'd stuff all peculiar-like and performed a live mix to the PA... in my scenario, the PA wouldn't be so loud as to drown out the acoustic sounds...

it was late, I was in a particular zone... weird a bit still though!
