odd move for the label to put the entire track up on youtube.. although it sounds decent, the high-resolution contours and the depth of the piece doesn't translate well. I know there's music like this on Touch, but it somehow reminded me of Mego releases from the late 90s/early 00s.

NP: the new ooioo album, Yoshimi on the cover of the wire this month, the album incorporates lots of gamelan style music from Indonesia. It's pretty good, a tad long perhaps, but is interesting at least.

the new andrew lafkas on sacred realism is very nice. it develops good emotion with me and it's easy to engage with even when the sounds are sparse and very quiet. there's a very vivid tension throughout the album that is honestly difficult to pinpoint in words without sounding like i'm talking around it, but i think it's worth mentioning since it makes the experience much more sincere for me.

Taylor Ho Bynum, Tomas Fujiwara - True Events (482 Music ‎– 2007)

There is quite a bit of Don Cherry / Ed Blackwell on this disc, but despite this, the music on this recording is outstanding. At times fast paced and very articulate, others times things become more introspective but it always remains fresh and radiant. Non stop inventions of textures and rhythms going on. Excellent from start to end. None of the subsequent recordings (2, I believe) of the duo have reached the same highs.

Over time I built a 1200 song playlist (and always in progress), ordered alphabetically by song titles.
Today I burned the 200 shortest songs (none longer than about 1:15) on an mp3-cdr which is now playing.

Most prominently featured are Melt-Banana (sometimes a few tracks in a row), early Arto Lindsay stuff (DNA + Locus Solus) and maybe Finally Punk, Kania Tieffer + Deerhoof. I'm surprised how post-punkish the mix turned out but that's because most songs in other styles from that big playlist need longer to enfold.
Another surprise is how refreshing the few Zappa-shorties are in this context.
. . . .

got the new lambkin cassette, swan song.

i'm really enjoying it. it clocks in at about 26 minutes and if you like the disconnected but very socially manifested sounds on his other releases youll like this. it definitely doesn't break any new ground for him, but i think it's a solid release. the second track uses a bit more extended sounds than i remember hearing on his other work. dunno about everyone else, but i really can't get enough of his music.

Kreng's own music seems to be somewhere between L Marchetti (the book music with Caparos, specifically), and Zorn (Spillane period).

This is an awesome mix of solo pieces from Scelsi to Braxton to chanting from Burkina Faso, and a lot more. Better than the sum of its parts. (My favourite mix of the lot - heard most of them).

Clive Henry - DER SIEBENTE KONTINENT

This is way too good to be released in an edition of 20 copies...
I think it's filed under HNW, but it's not really very HNWish for large parts. Bits definitely gesture that way. But so do bits of Joe Colley, so....
It's the good kind of awkward, really tense and immersive in parts, cleverly put together, unashamedly gothy/metally in bits - which might put me off if not done well, but this is done well.

I also have a few other picks from Mr Henry's distro to work my way through.
