This game sure reminds me of Marvel Team-Ups... what would happen if Superman fought with Gunter Mueller in an alternate universe? That fight would be awesome! ;)

Part of me wants to scold you and yell at you because Superman is DC.

The other part of me is thinking Mueller would make a good Lex Luthor.

She's done a couple shows w/ Thurston Moore (duo, and a quartet w/ Corsano and Matt Heyner) over the past couple of years and at least one West Coast Monostat 3 show, but otherwise not too much. And she recently became a mom, so probably not too much for a while. Either way, she's awesome.

Welcome back from tour Howie!

I'm pretty sure not, at least from the last time I asked. I think that'll still be a little while, he wanted to do these duo records with Gunter and Toshi first, and also his next solo disc, then he can move on...
well, apparently mr rowe did use his new laptop plus baby-modular-guitar-whatever instrument... don't ask me how it looked like, cause i couldn't attend the show... but i hear it sounded great and not "laptop-ish" at all...

yes, that was the report I got also. gunter said there should be about 200 minutes of recordings once he gets them all, I can't wait to hear them...

damo suzuki recently played a series of shows in new zealand with unusual backing bands.. one was with the orphaned flowers, an avant-jazz combo led by anthony donaldson. i wish i could've seen THAT

Man we need more info then that. What exactly makes up a "baby-modular-guitar-whatever instrument"? We need pictures! Or at least a first hand account...

Can't wait for this Erstwhile release, a great paring I expect.

well, I haven't seen it, and I don't know the details of what he decided on, and I'm sure he's still finetuning it, but basically he cut a guitar into pieces and is using that as his instrument. the laptop part (which I'm proud to say I bought for him last may when he was here, albeit with money I owed him for various things) was going to contain samples of some of the "guitar sounds" which he won't be able to make anymore with this new instrument. tomas probably has a more recent report than this, I'll get more details next time I call keith...

Thanks for the info, sounds very interesting. What kind of laptop did you get him? Does this mean Keith is doing MAX/MSP programming (or something similar)?

I don't remember what kind it was, Keith had it well-researched and just told me which one, Christian Fennesz was there also as technical advisor...

software: i think he uses reaktor.

i haven't seen the instrument either. but yeah, he wanted to cut the guitar into pieces which i think he can put together in different configurations, so they work as modules, in a way. one part still has strings and apparently looks like a baby-guitar.

so i guess it's a baby-modular-guitar-whatever instrument

didnt vashti do some stuff with animal collective?
if so i think that would be a cool thing.

id like to see some collab between some folky/psych stuff and some noise stuff. something like psychedelic underground with wolf eyes, or something could be cool.

the remaining members of can with the remaining members of faust(not sure on their current situation)

yeah, it's recorded though i've seen no information about when or how it will be released.

considering how slow the release schedule on paw tracks seems to move, i wouldn't hold my breath.

you should check out the "slapp happy humphrey" album on alchemy... mineko ikura's subtle folk-styling with jojo hiroshige's guitar-blasts intermittently overlaid. haven't heard it in years, but i think of it often...

i'd like to see more hip hop pairings...
Rza and MF Doom
Rza and Aki Onda....this probably sounds retarded but man would it work.

Ah, be careful! Slapp Happy and Slap Happy Humphrey are different bands. But with SHH, they have a CD and a 7", and both are the same idea.... pretty acoustic folky la-la-la interrupted by Jojo's guitar. It's entertaining, but makes me just crave Hijo Kaidan, one of my favorite bands ever....
