Dark Star the Levitation spinoff band audio from a tv performance in 2000 which I'm surprised by the lateness of since I thought Levitation split mid 90s.
Anyway pretty good stuff with walls of silvery guitar and frenetic drumming. Quite psychedelic really.

I know nothing about either band, but what you've described (and the brief clip I heard on Youtube) sounds pretty good; a bit like Swervedriver, one of my favorite bands. Any recommendations of where to start with these guys?Stevo wrote:Dark Star the Levitation spinoff band audio from a tv performance in 2000 which I'm surprised by the lateness of since I thought Levitation split mid 90s.

Tony Hymas & Evan Parker
This has been seen 27 920 times. What happened? I didn't know that there were so much fans of free improv out there, on youtube or anywhere else. The comments are, as often, quite funny but also tiresome (there are ten pages of it!)

it's been posted since mid-2006, youtube only started in early 2005, so presumably it was one of the earlier things posted.Lao Tsu Ben wrote:Tony Hymas & Evan Parker

Re: Now Playing
I've been enjoying this one quite a bit myself. Probably listened to this more than any other disk in the last month or two. Its good music to "live with": reading, writing, laying on the sofa . . . . There is a simple but fascinating depth to the pieces, all of which actually contain more than one distinct "section". Some other reviewer somewhere compared it to Bach, and while there isnt a "theme and variation" structure, I do see that connection. I just like the variety of textures, sounds, rhythm, and sense of space he is able to achieve. It really does work best in shuffle mode, fwiw.javier4w wrote: Tim Parkinson - Cello Piece (Edition Wandelweiser 2006)

I'm trying to explore exhaustively the output of Russian whizzkid Sergey Kuryokhin. It's a rather confusing journey.
