Re: Graham Lambkin
Did anybody catch either of Graham's concerts this weekend?
I wondered if they played the same type of set as their Issue Project Room set.

I was at the Wesleyan set, along with a few other posters from here, so maybe they can elaborate further.i am the cheese wrote:Did anybody catch either of Graham's concerts this weekend?

but the short answer is no, they did what Jason introduced beforehand as a 'Breadwinner' set, which meant that they played pretty faithful versions of the first and last tracks off the record, with quite a bit of similarly paced but newer improvised material in between, all in all about 70 minutes. the Issue Project set was much more of an unknown for them going in, as Graham really had no experience with live performances in this style, that was much wilder and more freeform. for these sets (the Vassar one was similar in content evidently), they rehearsed a few times leading up to it, and it was much more controlled. Jason said afterwards he felt it was about 90 percent successful, which I think is pretty accurate. I quite enjoyed it.
they have some other possible performances coming up in the works, I'll post details here if and when those become definite.
Re: Graham Lambkin
sorry if this has been covered, but where can one purchase salmon run for a reasonable price nowadays? is it in print?
Re: Graham Lambkin
it's out of print. there are probably copies around, but i've not seen it listed anywhere in a while.

Re: Graham Lambkin
It looks like a Philly show has been announced. April 5th Lambkin/Lescalleet will be playing with Nmpreign for free! The Rotunda could be an interesting space for these guys as it's rather large, plus they have a pretty solid PA system.

Re: Graham Lambkin
that show is indeed definitely on, but the combinations of musicians among those four (nmpbreadign) has yet to be definitively determined.

Re: Graham Lambkin
check out the headliners for that MD show:
"Here We Go Magic, led by singer-songwriter Luke Temple, craft beautiful, resonating folk gems that go from innocuous to mind-control before the listener knows what's happening. Afro-beat, krautrock, and Paul Simon enter the chamber and emerge from the other side, transformed by the vaseline lens of Temple's inner world."

Re: Graham Lambkin
It was great to see so many IHMers at the concert here in Philadelphia. Thanks to everyone that came out.
I'm curious to hear what people thought of the concert. I had a great time - but when I'm running a concert it's hard to get a sense of what the audience is hearing.

Re: Graham Lambkin
thanks again for putting it on, Dustin!
I'll let other people talk about the show first this time, but I can clarify something Jason said from the stage at the beginning, which was that this show marked the final Breadwinner set (so I believe there were three of these in total, Vassar, Wesleyan and Philly). what this means more specifically is that this duo is now done playing shows until after their next record comes out, which will be at least a year and maybe two. they were supposed to do a London show this summer but that's now off.
also, we should have gone with Cheez Whiz over provolone, I think. ah well, next time.

Re: Graham Lambkin
Dustin, first of all, you did a hell of job setting up this show. Venue was wonderful you provided some serious amplification. The combination of the two allowed Jason and Graham to reach to more dynamic adventures. I wish I had the proper words and time to express myself but that show was absolutely fantastic - knocked me out. Wow, I'm feeling very fortunate to have caught these guys for 2 of their Breadwinner shows. Hell of a guys too when they are not blowing my mind sonically. Always a pleasure seeing Jon/Yuko and Richard. Great to meet Mark too. Wish I had the time to say hello to others there.Dustin Hurt wrote: I'm curious to hear what people thought of the concert. Lastly, looking forward to seeing more thru the eyes/lens of Yuko!
THANK YOU!
Re: Graham Lambkin
Yes, cheers to Dustin and folks at the Rotunda for making this show happen. One of the best I'll see all year I'm sure. Nmperign were in top form as always. A challenging set given the size of that room and the size of their sounds. Lambkin/Lescalleet were amazing. I can't even find the words to describe it right now so I'll leave that for the Kud. It was like watching two scientists conduct an experiment.

Re: Graham Lambkin
Mark said he'd write it up once he got back (flying home this morning, hopefully the weather doesn't mess him up too much), and I think Brian O should have something on his blog soon.
Yuko said she took over a hundred pix (one has to catch the experimental music cicada when one can, I guess), so will probably be putting up more later.

OK, Yuko put up 30+ L/L pix:

a couple of my faves:

some nmperign pix still to come (it was hard to take those, as the music was so quiet). I don't think she could take pix of the first act from where she was (blocked by the huge keyboard).
