The Tower Recordings (1994-2004) were a collective of neo-psychedelic musicians from New York. Their records, including the seminal "Furniture Music for Evening Shuttles" (Siltbreeze, 1998), display an alluring amalgam of Eastern and Western folk influence in a low-fi electric psychedelic setting. Their records showcase dissonant vocal harmonies, atonal electric effects, and non-standard key signatures. Their lyrics often focused on the future, celestial and nature imagery, consciousness, and drugs. They appear to be heavily influenced by science fiction literature, especially Philip K. Dick. A number of their members have gone on to participate in other projects, such as PG Six, MV (Matt Valentine), Samara Lubelski, and Tim Barnes.

and to think I actually talked with Matt Valentine about the new record briefly (mostly when it was coming out and how he was playing Amsterdam when it came out in Europe on Halloween) plus standing very close to Tim Barnes near the bar at Erstquake, perhaps missing both Samara Lubelski and PG Six at festivals attended, both being Wickermania and Terrastock?

Kurzmann out of the blue asked me to walk down to that Schiller's place before his set w/Sachiko. Wasn't talking to him, there were other people around, I was just outside smoking. It was great, we talked about various shit for a good fifteen minutes over a beer.

Why did no one check me on the Sachiko thing? It was before his set with Ami which was right before my friends coming to Tonic were mugged on the Williamsburg Bridge. What's most embarassing is that I'm not really into the Vienna stuff and didn't know what to say but we spoke about Pita and beer and soccer, pretty cool.
