ErstQuake 3
hilarious missing the point all over the place here.

i think what the previous person meant is that, it is really all noise music.
some noise music is loud and dense.
other noise music is quiet and sparse.
and everything in between.
music made out of noises.
i think he meant that you wouldnt really expect to hear melodies and songs and chords and harmonies, etc all that much (if at all) at erstquake.
thats how i interpreted his post.....

and if Sean Meehan (to name one) is "noise", you're seriously stretching the definition as far as I'm concerned.
OK fuck it.
English (me & bonnie jones) are playing Erstquake 3.
So is GOD (bryan eubanks & leif erik sundstrom).
We'll be doing a little tour together from maybe DC to Montreal starting Sept 17 or so to warm up for the festival, since neither group will have played as a duo in almost a year at that point.
A lot can change in a year.
We all hope some of you east coasters can come out and hear us, I haven't toured out east since 2001, and I don't even know if Leif has at all, so we're really looking forward to it, and I'm also really looking forward to meeting some of you fucking people.

sweet. nice lineup. pretend i made a dumb scenic railroads crack for the benefit of messrs. shiflet and panzner (allegedly lurking).
is it too soon to talk about pre- and post- shows? i was thinking of trying to do something with my duo HZL (http://www.white-flag.org/hzl" onclick= "window.open(this.href);return false;). anyone in nyc want to brainstorm?

Come on, Jon, as long as Jersey's right over the river, there will allways be ways to dump our trashjon abbey wrote:there's no room for dumpsters in Manhattan anymore, people now have to eat all of their own trash.
And, as if I wasn't already looking forward to the next erstquake, this just made it so much more real and SO much more exciting.

Sheesh, Jon! This just gets better and better. You already know how I feel about Cosmos but I'm excited that the rest of the show has shaped up, especially excited about Niblock! Though some of these sets I might be listening to from the street since the volume will probably too much for my tinnitused out ears.......someone on the Acid Mother's thread said they saw AMT last night and their ears were still ringing....that's what I said three years ago and it hasn't stopped! Seriously though I think that this show really manages to keep a bead on the state of music today by tying together the things that have built this scene with the threads and variants that are part of other scenes and progressing within this one. The concern with sound or noise is the meme of the now and this line-up is an excellent sectional of this. Excellent work!
And recently got word that there will also be a Sachiko M. / English set.
Definitely looking forward to that. You guys: Bonnie played with Sachiko once and it was so ill until the third member of the ad hoc trio ruined it. When that unnamed person wasn't playing, though, it was pretty fiendish.
