as I thought, the Ottavi/Workman times changed one last time. this is final, only 42 hours now, those slackers...

"8pm, Sunday September 18 – 2pm, Tuesday September 20
(doors will be open at all times during the 42 hour event)"

Has anybody thought about organizing a dinner hang-out or other such activity during the festival? I'm pretty psyched right now because everything is all set for me. I'm going to be there all three nights, and have ensured that I won't have to leave early for any of them as I'm taking the train down, staying in NY for the weekend, and not returning to Albany until Monday morning.

Sean Meehan wanted to set up a brunch for everyone, musicians, listeners, on Sunday, but he forgot about the 3 PM matinee show. I think we can still do it at the Vietnamese place near the venue, but I need to check with him and see what he wants now before announcing it.

have any of you erstQuake attendees found a cheap/resonable hotel or hostel near the venue? I'm coming from Florida. Many of those hostels now have no vacancies, and unfortunately, the old friend I was staying with is leaving town unexpectedly. Plan "B" does not stand for "busking". Send any tips my way... or I'm liable to end up sleeping under Hive Mind's van. Please... no.

so i went to the ottavi/dion thing. it was after some 9 hours of walking around nyc, and i was dead tired. very nice setup there (i have pics), and an extremely nice venue, too. don't know how good it works as a piece of music, but in creating a space it succeded very well. i was walking around, sitting and lying on the floor (almost falling asleep), and in the end was feeling good enough to head back to long island. both worm. i was the only audience for about 1.5 hour but then came jon and some other people. everybody got a free beer. jon made a joke at me and i didnt realize he was joking and i am so embarrassed that i will go to sleep now. shit i'm tired.

There was some listings earlier in the thread and I will once again point people towards Carleton Arms in Grammercy Park. Not sure what you consider cheap but it's $70 a night. Here's the website:

i hope you will write a full report on the whole festival. I'm still trying to figure out why I'm still at home right now...

and not somewhere lost in NYC.
