a lot more positive than negative feedback came in live at the show----even from the club owner ( a great guy with the best motivations for having these shows)---carlos--who unplugged us -- the sound guy---the two bouncers (also outstanding men with a real old school knowledge of the history of physical noise actions such as einsturzende neubaten) --- as well as poor ataru (who got the 7 staples).... on and on and on. since you go to noise boards and i don't.. maybe you can make public my whole take on what you get with macronympha in the 21st century.... now..... not the past. first of all our sound is foremost to us. when we began noise performing live back in 1991...the whole gadget culture was still a bit devalued in how fans received a set where all the folks did was a small amount of show..and a large amount of knob tweaking. the electronics alone was not enough to maintain interest and the wilder performances by hijokaidan, eye, SRL, crash worship, test dept., esplendor geometrico, incapacitants, masonna..etc...etc therefore, remained etched into peoples brains.now pedals are cool as primary tone generators/filters and folks seem bored with laptop stuff. audiences are more knowledgeable and astute and larger in size than the early 90's. noise can be both thoughtful and physical....so why not incorporate both? when we do an LP/CD the process of completing a project manifests itself on many parallel and intersecting levels....and we have absolute control ( except for some of the gear that has a mind of its own when heated up or overworked)...and can mold/create what we want. our noise is harsh yes...but i've said it a thousand times for fuck sake....i started out my adult life as a reporter/journalist and i reflect the trends in world society....corporate culture....false religion... and political corruption. i was born into a tough family so i became a wise guy for awhile then decided that brains are better than brawn. macro didn't start any violence......but we'll rise up and meet it with a grin and a fist. live shows are two things---first they give fans the opportunity to check out the tech set-ups/equiptment used on their favorite releases. not everything we use..but enough to make it interesting. i am anti-war---anti-violence when unprovoked. a warrior who can really hurt people bad (as in snapping necks) doesn't go out looking for fights. he responds to a threat or situation. what makes violence criminal is the intent. macronymphas raison d'etre is NOT to promote violence...but rather to stick the headlines/facts in your face. folks are correct when they draw comparrisons as to how young aggressive males respond to the times they live in. we do live in the time of road rage, illiterate gansta' glorification, big guns as substitutes for small penises/testicles,beating up grandma for crack money, congress feeding the industrial military complex (that republican president and 5 star general--dwight eisenhower warned us against---and who knew better than him?), and the list goes on. the marketing firms have them convinced they have to wear certain clothes/styles and cologne...and be what wall street considers "regular guys"-----in order to succeed in business and in bed. it's all bullshit and an easy way for the top 2% wealthy elite to control their values that they can manipulate with spin and soundbites. an angry , underempl-oyed , uninsured, undereducated cock patrol could cause them trouble and sidetrack their backroom deals. it's not jock culture. either you have a powerful body and work at physical skills ----or you don't. sports are competitive yes...but pale in comparrison to the 12 summer interns at merril lynch who are fighting it out for that one broker job that could open their door to investment banking. that is an ugly war to throw a 20 year old into...as is a military one based on a texas moron's grandiose concepts of "nation building" ..usually anathema to conservatives. so they need release. escape from the white stripes, blink 182 , staind, system of a down(er),korn and all the major label crap. we don't encourage violence ---we encourage pure visceral emotion, real thought and truth, and artistic passion. passion is the reason we are into hot sex sooooo much. passion allows you to explore the possibilities and learn what you like and what gets to your core being. fuck, "kids" don't realize it (at 22 most think they know every fucking thing.....i did)...but they won't even know how to cum properly or freak scene their desires/fetishes until they accumulate enough actual knowledge to be wise. and about the women. bodies are to be admired for their beauty. we aren't making any profound attempt to exploit anyone. girls are gorgeous and naked even better !!! if any size queens want to exploit our big cocks...dammit take 'em out and show yer friends !!!! it's quid pro quo. i'll strip in a nano-second....and don't have any embarrasing "issues". i look good naked. the women in our macro releases are the type of females/transsexuals i am attracted to or find aesthetically pleasing. all the ladies at "no fun" did the harsheads proud and can smoke dope and drink with the best of the guys. soon they'll be better than most 'cause they're not so bitchy and political like the whiners on this board. they'll concentrate on the work and leave the drama for the "wrestling fans"----THE dick directed male soap opera junkies. shows. our live is to entertain the fans. you pay a lot of bread for the tix----so you get yer dollar$ worth w/ us. we do plan our sounds and textures a bit---but have always let the stage shows reflect our energy and inner frustrations with a country populated by lazy couch potatoes too dis-involved to even vote. it's the fat and gloriously banal CEOs college grads seem to admire today. when i was coming up in the 70's we wanted to hang bank presidents------not strive to be one of them. kenny lay would been dumped in a river if he tried to screw 14,000 employees out of their pensions in my neighborhood. i don't apologize for being macho. everyone who gets to know me realizes i am a loyal friend and chill guy.........unless you want to get in my face. then things change and i will erupt. i don''t start fights but i finish all of 'em w/ extreme predjudice. so on saturday i spent all afternoon watching the french riots. during our set when things got crazy i had two choices: a) to be all anal about the crowd and jump the peanut butter jar / bottle throwers .....dragging them by their necks to the two capable bouncers...and kicking them out--thus pausing the show...OR ....b) to go with the flow. i totally agree with Joe about Hiroshi Hasegawa. I only wish I could have seen his set with Damion! CCCC , his 80s/90s band, was one of my favorite noise bands (if you haven't yet heard "Amplified Crystal" or "Loud Sounds Dopa: Live in the USA", I strongly recommend doing so) and Astro has been fantastic too.

the one real question i have is. . . what is the ostensible purpose of "sticking the headlines/facts in your face"? it seems that if it's to sort of bring the horror of war/society/etc. home, then you are courting criticism, inasmuch as you are courting criticism of the larger culture. that is to say, if the goal is to present a microcosm, shouldn't that microcosm be held up for condemntation as well? even as separate from the "art"/"statement" at hand.
the other thing, and i can't remember if i said this in another thread, is that this general philosophy really doesn't seem too far off from what the futurists were saying/doing nearly 100 years ago!
