nice! while i'd probably pick a different release for best of decade, dan melchior has been going strong ... i thought about it but didn't manage a proper best album list, it's just so random and when i look up release dates they all seem to be 2009. instead i've come up with this core pantheon, which feels depressingly narrow compared to what i actually listen to ... i could probably replace altar of flies with e.g. grisha shakhnes, vanessa rossetto, or a random choice of chocolate monk cdrs (all of which would have been on a full list), but he best reflects that as eai has been moving toward composed silence, i've been drawn toward the fringes of noise (all terms in scare quotes). in randomly chronological order:

Whereas I'm shocked to see the paucity of rap listed here -- and a little disappointed, it's the one major genre I have trouble keeping up with.
My first two singles are nominally rap, but they're in there because they were the two biggest dances of the decade. Cupid Shuffle is already a classic, more popular than the Electric Slide (much easier).

To be fair, my post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek (not that I don't love any of those tunes); my sense is that even the microdemographic that IHM represents doesn't constitute any kind of coherent barometer of anything that happened in the last ten years, because the assemblage of musics subsumed under the label "eai" have long since gone off in a gazillion different directions, so that it's not even clear to me, for example, if labels like Erstwhile, another timbre, or Mikroton are even addressing the same audience (as opposed to overlapping audiences), so I thought "why not pick stuff that everyone would know".

Also, I'm just not keen on the arbitrary marker of decades; 2006-2012 for example seems to me to mark one period of time, and 2013-present a different one.
