Joe Colley
Re: Joe Colley
anyone knows if he's working on something new? I could use a new Colley record, it's been a while...
Re: Joe Colley
I think there is a new Colley/Lescalleet duo in the works, I believe not too far away.
Re: Joe Colley
Thanks, Jon. Somehow I knew you had the right answer. It will be interesting to see how their second colab will turn out. I just hope it will be new material, rather than archive stuff. Looking forward to it and I guess I'll have to play "Annihilate This Week" right now.jon abbey wrote:I think there is a new Colley/Lescalleet duo in the works, I believe not too far away.

Re: Joe Colley
I just came to this with exactly the same question as drip. I had a sudden hankering for new Joe Colley this morning and realised there's been nothing since 2012. Does anyone know if there's anything in the works? Is that Lescaleet collab still a going concern?

Re: Joe Colley
I have yet to acquire disasters of self hope there are still copies of that around. I know he came out with something after that one tho
Re: Joe Colley
as i understand it colley has dedicated himself to running his store and hasn't been recording for some time.
disasters of self is still around in places, definitely worth picking up.

Re: Joe Colley
yeah, I believe as of now he has stopped making music, and that lescalleet duo is probably not happening.

Re: Joe Colley
It certainly is - I was listening again to it a couple of weeks ago, had forgotten how good it was.mudd wrote:disasters of self is still around in places, definitely worth picking up.
Shame - but Annhilate was a hard act to follow (I suspect Jon disagrees with me) - must return to that one too before too long.jon abbey wrote:yeah, I believe as of now he has stopped making music, and that lescalleet duo is probably not happening.

Re: Joe Colley
the duo concert they did at ErstQuake was way better than Annihilate, and Michael Schaumann still talks about the one they did at Chicago/Lampo.
live shows and recordings are often very different animals, though, certainly with Lescalleet.

I secretly root for this to be part of a decade+ cooling off master plan of Joe's, not that I've any problem with anyone changing course. That said Kickstarter for a 2 night (solos/duo) gig w/Lescalleet anywhere on the planet and I will be there.

Re: Joe Colley
well, maybe good timing for this announcement...this is Blake, the guy behind the label that released Colley's Disasters of Self 3 LP box set.
I have 44 copies left, and I need space for the final CIP release.
I plan on selling copies for $35 ($10 less that list) ppd in the US via discogs, but if anyone here wants one, shoot me an email--
vertonen (at) earthlink.net.
the cost is a bit more overseas, but it seems like that shouldn't be above $55.
thanks,

Interesting to hear re: Joe Colley stop making music. Joda and I were in his shop in Oakland in March and he was talking about new material he was working on. Not that I am doubting it but interesting to hear so soon after ....
Re: Joe Colley
my info is second-hand, so I hope it's wrong. I actually meant to reach out and investigate after this thread was bumped, but hopefully Mathieu is right...

Yeah, he said that he has been focusing on the store mostly but has "an LP's worth of material" and isn't sure what to do with it, or something to that effect.
Agreed, that was an incredible performance. They were selling a very limited duo CD-R at the time, anyone have a copy of that? I remember it being pretty good as well.jon abbey wrote:the duo concert they did at ErstQuake was way better than Annihilate.

Please, let this be true. It would be such a loss if he'd vanish. Anyone got an update on the situation?
