Re: Eliane Radigue
just a heads up that I just got copies of the new triple CD of Radigue on Shiin. they are pricy ($60), but Shiin is always pricy and if I restock these, they will be decidedly pricier, I believe ('cheaper' initial wholesale price). more info at the link below, send me a note at erstrecs@aol.com if you want one, they're going fast:

Re: Eliane Radigue
This thread rules, possibly going to be a weekend plan to go through everyone's post.
I am madly in love with Eliane's music after scoffing at it for awhile.
I listened to Psy (the fork like symbol) 847 the concert version. I cried again! So beautiful.
I'm just wondering if she has made a lot of or just some live recordings as I think she is brilliant performer. Does she still play out live anymore?

As far as I know she never did. psi is a composition for magnetic tape. By the way, it's Shiiin not Shiin.Piano Mouth wrote:I'm just wondering if she has made a lot of or just some live recordings as I think she is brilliant performer. Does she still play out live anymore?

Re: Eliane Radigue
Yeah, and if you read the blurb you see that the performance consisted of Lionel Marchetti mixing tapes in real time. (As also indicated in the thread above). This is what he did in the performance of psi I organised in the Eglise Saint-Merry here in Paris, and also in a live version I saw in Stéphane Roux (Shiiin)'s loftspace a couple of years before that. But there's no instrument actually played live in the piece (Eliane hasn't touched the ARP in her apartment for more than a decade: L'ile re-sonante was her farewell to the synthesizer). The work was edited down from its original duration (some 85 minutes) - perhaps Lionel did that, not sure, will ask. Meanwhile you can always read my Wire articles on her (profile in Wire 260, October 2005, pasted in on page one of this thread, and Jukebox in Wire 312 February 2010).

Re: Eliane Radigue
Ok thanks for the info. Didn't know that she never played live. There goes my search for her live recordings, lol.
Re: Eliane Radigue
Perhaps worth pointing out that her more recent works are indeed performance works, just that she's not the performer. There was a two-day event celebrating her work a few years ago, with performances by the Lappetites, Kaspar Toeplitz, Rhodri Davies, Charles Curtis, etc. of the various Naldjorlak and Elemental pieces, most of which have been released in other versions on CD.
Re: Eliane Radigue
yeah, Issue Project here has put on a ton of shows of her work in recent years, there is another in a couple of weeks with Nate Wooley and Carol Robinson:

Re: Eliane Radigue
A recent CD by Silvia Tarozzi "Virgin Violin". (Silvia is a member of Dedalus).
one of the three pieces:
- Occam II (2012), by Éliane Radigue
The other two are: - "Circle Process" (2010), by Pascale Criton and Silvia Tarozzi and "Thirteen Changes: For Malcolm Goldstein" (1986), by Pauline Oliveros
The Occam piece is amazing.
It's published on Angelica.

Anyone out there have a copy of "Chry-ptus" that they have and no longer desire? Looking to buy. I use Paypal. Thank you.
Re: Eliane Radigue
Just want to add that these are my exact sentiments also. Thank you IHM for my continued musical learnings.Piano Mouth wrote:This thread rules, possibly going to be a weekend plan to go through everyone's post.
