Was playing that fantastic live album he did with an unknown (but very good) Canadian rhythm section this morning. Indeed, I know of no guitar player who doesn't hold much respect for this man. RIP.

Live! is an amazing disc. One of his best trios. Really liked Don Thompson on some work he did in the 80s with English folk music hero John Martyn.
There is another release including 3 discs worth of music from same sessions as Live!. On ArtistShare, but long out of print. The same trio recorded again a year later in japan. Two japanese only releases, you can google them as downloads. Impressions of Japan and Live in Tokyo which, is even stronger than Live!

his record Telephone with Ron Carter is what got me hooked on jazz. RIP.

I've always loved his sound in the Paul Desmond quartett..so smooth and gentle...
