Ornette Coleman-Live at the Golden Circle vol. 2
I definitely love this one more than volume 1, but they are both fantastic!! Really like the relaxed feeling the band has on "Morning Song", here Ornette sounds a bit like Rollins in his melodic approach toward improvisation, on snowflakes and sunshine Moffet playing is simply amazing, really like it.

It's an album of improvised pieces played with primitive acoustic objects (hollow tubes, shells, teeth, bones…) collected by Walter Maioli. An italian researcher of prehistoric art (this is what he claims he was back in 1993). It's kind of acoustic ambient music. Sounds as if it was recorded in a cave, fresh and quiet, and although it was published by Hic Sunt Leones, it doesn't have much to do with the rest of their catalog.

By the way, the new collection of Robert Wyatt's rarities from '68 pretty much rewrites the whole Canterbury scene and its history to put him as the single most influential figure on it. Funny how you can actually see the frustration in Wyatt's face on the cover of Soft machine 4: the band is about to kick him out in clear disregard for his essential role in defining the sound they've been mining successfully since (a whole side of Soft Machine 2 is Wyatt alone, as this new collection shows, and Moon In June was essentially finished in '68. It's a bit depressing to witness that video (it's on youtube) made at the time of the recording of Soft machine 4, with RW sharing ideas and opinions to meet icy silences from the other two, already teeming against him to make it unpleasant for him to be in the band he founded. No wonder Wyatt seems so happy with the release, it pretty much sets the record straight as to who was the main musical force in Soft Machine, back when they where an interesting proposition (it's clearly not a coincidence that the quality of SM's music took a dive after Wyatt's sacking, as they became another generic jazz rock outfit right after Soft Machine 5).

Gil I can't find it. Please can you give me the URL? By the way, me too I've always seen soft machine as robert wyatt band. I think that after 4 they losed not only a great singer but also an incredible drummer.
