that's theoretically been out for a while, though i only got my copy along with the two 3cds mentioned above. sparse bursts of noisy activity, nice empty room spasms.

got a little alligator clip with it, too.

(bet that marketplace seller is mr. drumm himself, though i've not bought from him there before)

Don't Ask is a super demanding disc. Think the self titled record, but with the threshold for activity at least twice as high AND without the luxury of ground hum to fill in the gaps! Oddly enough though, there's some some short reverb(ish) trails accompanying the cuts, which sort of highlights the pre-existing 'live concrète' feel. The first record has passages long enough that you can sort of identify some of them as memorable 'riffs' on the second or third listen, but Don't Ask slices in and out so briefly, I can't imagine when I'll feel anywhere near comfortable listening to it.

I Have a Computer is most likely exactly what you think it is, and it's great. There's a good amount of variation through the first two discs. The third is an extended piece with lots of returning elements and is less likely to just leave you in the dust with your ears ringing. Personally, I find it interesting mostly because it shows a less edited work that kind of hints at the general process of being selective with sound transformations when using a machine that people think is capable of creating anything. Reminded me of listening the Charlemagne Palestine Relationship Studies LP in that way. I kind of hate CD-Rs, but these have nice enough packaging and the content is worth owning.

Just joined because of this thread. I'm a fan of Kevin Drumm, I am about to purchase Sheer Hellish Miasma, which seems amazing. It seems to me like some of his recent releases are quieter...
The Obstacles of Romantic Exaggeration and Imperial Horizon both seem more drone-like than SHM.
Is this true? Or are they harsh noise tracks hiding inside ambient ones?

How do you conclude Obstacles... is drone-like? Not to come off crude, listening to the second disc now, absolutely crushing. First a play on a randy three chord VH riff then into searing Incapacitants chaos then to milky way weirdness à la those middle tracks on Comedy, metallic Mego noise, concluding with some kind of fucked gamelan torture rite. Of the moment and at his dynamic, mercurial best.

"Okay, the paper has arrived for the second edition of both 3cdr sets. The printing was finished today, and the burning is starting tonight. should only take about 20 hour or so(barf). 25 copies each, some have reserved them, some copies are still available. Each set is 20 US PPD, 22 overseas."

Since joining this site, I have gotten very into Kevin Drumm. His tracks with Lasse Marhaug are good, and I definitely like Obstacles of Romantic Exaggeration as well...

did anyone else grab 'dying air' ? quite a departure from anything else i've heard from KD-

it's funny, because i have heard this a bit... but i can't really point to an example of it being the case. i mean, maybe quiet scratchy ---> SHM, but even that had more intermediate steps than the usual 'where did that come from?' story would have it.
