I heard Flux play the 2nd quartet at Zankel hall in, I think, 2003. They'd played it at Cooper Union 4-5 years before that. So it may be time for them to play it again, if they don't think they've saturated the market.

Speaking of which, a quartet of players from Ne(x)tworks played the 2nd Quartet just about a year ago in the new Issue Projects Room in Brooklyn. A recording of that performance may still be available on WQXR's Q2 web pages.

To add on to the Feldman book/article discussion, found this bibliography.

Quite a bit to chase down in there.

A head's up for LA folks: For Philip Guston will be performed at the wulf in downtown.

Check out http://www.thewulf.org/ for details. It looks like this is part of this years dogstar, which looks very promising.

any opinions on the Markus Hinterhäuser version of For Bunita Markus? I believe it's a rip of the Col Legno release from 1995... I'm only just finding my way through Feldman's music, so I have almost no knowledge of his work except for what I read in The Rest is Noise.

I haven't listened to that recording for a long time. It's hard to believe that it's as strong as the recordings of the same piece by John Tilbury or Louis Goldstein.

FYI, JazzLoft is doing a Hat Hut/Hat Art sale that includes two crucial Feldman titles at ridiculous prices.

http://www.jazzloft.com/c-36-hatsale.aspx

- For Samuel Beckett (Ensemble Modern) for $8.50
- String Quartet (II) (Ives Ensemble) 4CD set for...wait for it...$16.48 (!)

Sale ends August 22.

Can't answer that - but while you're searching, I can recommend

Intersection 1, Structures for Orchestra, On Time and the Instrumental Factor, Voice and Instruments, Orchestra performed by Martha Cluver, soprano, and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Brad Lubman Mode 238

Magnificent stuff, and essential I'd say for Sexy MF completists

I can't recall ever seeing any but don't know the answer. Someone who I imagine will know is Chris Villars. You can email him from this page:
