Re: Now Playing
I have heard it maybe ten times but I don't know. This release is quite nice, but also quite boring. In comparison with Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle, I can say the new one is worse, but also because previous one is my favourite one from him.

Plays really well straight after "Φ".

Re: Now Playing
It seems to be a Last.fm only release:

It's quite good, I think, though maybe not as good as On The Verge Of Redundance. I've no idea when it was made.

Re: Now Playing
thanks. last.fm only release seems like pretty much bottom of the barrel to me. she should be getting more attention!

I agree! Perhaps I can interest her in releasing something on my little label.mudd wrote:she should be getting more attention!

Re: Now Playing
Coincidentally I've been watching ebay for Roosevelt Charles' Blues, Prayer, Work And Trouble Songs LP, it's mostly unaccompanied, and way too expensive. I have him on Arhoolie comps Prison Worksongs and Angola Prison Spirituals, both recorded at Angola. The former has him on a fierce vocal plow vamp "All Teamed Up In Angola's Mule Lot" with two others, Arthur Davis and Big Louisiana. On the latter his unaccompanied "Let My People Go" is stunning again and again, the reason I've looked for more. A booming, unmistakable sound.

I've heard that Magic ID record probably 50 times, and I'd say it's well worth picking up for fans of the first one. it's not supposed to actually be released until May sometime, though, I believe.

Re: Now Playing
that one 'leaked' real early huh? i suppose that's the (shitty) inevitable consequence of sending out promo copies too early.
definitely dug the album, especially the opening and closing tracks.
