Douglas Quin - Fathom

This is an extraordinary and improbable recording- Quin occupies the world of research in the acoustimatics of critters seldom heard, Plotkin comes from [among other projects] Khanate. This is on the Minneapolis-based Taiga records, whose owner continues to be long-suffering in waiting for me to write a label profile discussed a year ago. I wish Fathom would be heard by more folks, but this is a boundary/area [KK Null, Chris Watson...] that really seems to sort out listeners- by that I mean not simply "field recordings of specific environments & their flora and fauna", but the music within these sources.

ABsolutely. A seriously amazing record, but I don't know that plotkin had anything to do with the actual composition - just the (excellent) mastering.

Well, I've been enjoying a lot his recent albums.
After a first listening, I found this one OK but it didn't completely convince me. Maybe it will grow with further listens...

On the other hand, I've never been a big fan of Jesse Sykes' records, but this last one could be the exception.
