Rad! Can we hear any of them?sexes wrote:this class was SOOO much fun. We focused a lot on DIY projects. Janet Cardiff, Toshiya Tsunoda, and Francisco Lopez were especially well-received. Student projects were pretty amazing!

anyone have suggestions for Michel Chion? he seems like a fairly big name in the area, but i really hardly know any of his work, myself...

I haven't heard anything else as good as "Requiem' - which is excellent, but haven't investigated too deeply.franz bieberkopf wrote:anyone have suggestions for Michel Chion? he seems like a fairly big name in the area, but i really hardly know any of his work, myself...

I'm putting this here, as this is the thread a search points to for Michel Chion- props to Mr. Warburton for the March IJ feature with Chion. Chion has an improbable alacrity for nailing almost every snippet of music Dan throws at him within seconds-and-something to say about them. Plus, the rare warmth in their exchanges, just nicely done.

Oh, thanks Jesse. You (all) should get hold of Chion's Diktat, which dates from 1979 but has only just appeared on Nuun, which if I'm not mistaken is Lionel Marchetti-curated (he also did the mastering and provided liner notes). Why on earth this never came out before (well, one of its seven movements, "Nuit", did appear on empreintes DIGITALEs) is a mystery.
