Loftstel in Brooklyn: http://www.loftstel.com/gr/index.php

I think they now only offer monthly rates, so try this hostel in Manhattan: http://www.1291.com/index.html

The White House hostel is just a few blocks from The Stone, I stayed there in 2006 and survived, I think it was around $40 for a single room. Pretty stoked about the lineup, hope I can find a way to make it.

What do you mean "survived"? I'm willing to deal with a certain degree of uncleanliness(stopping at bed bugs) as long as it's a fairly safe place.
Found a bed in an 8 bed dorm room at Jazz on the Town hostel for about the same price as a private room at this place.
And thanks for the info people.

No, it was safe alright, although I don't know about their bed bug situation. It was clean enough too, but the wood ceilings of the rooms were not sealed, so you could hear everything that your neighbors were doing and viceversa. But I think I would take a private room over a shared room pretty much any time.

i stayed at the white house in 2006 and it was okay then but recent reviews online seem to show the bedbug situation is a bit bad there now.

I have friends who have stayed at this place and been quite satisfied: http://www.nylofthostel.com/

Seems kind of pricey for a dorm style situation. Am currently trying Airbnb. Anyone ever use/can recommend this service?

once we get closer, I'm curious to know if anyone will plan on doing all 28 sets besides myself.

You have few peers in the rarified *24 hour MIMEO live performance club*, Amplify 11 might be another such notch.

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

heh, yeah, just three of us made it through all 24 hours awake, myself, my young friend Tom Pratt, and Eberhard Meisel from Hannover, plus maybe 7-8 of the musicians.

If i can afford to stick around town for that long, I will certainly attempt to.

I came across some program notes Christian Wolff wrote for 'Stones' (page 494 of the MusikTexte book), and I thought the first sentence was a good fit here:

"Stones is for me an extreme instance of combining maximum transparency, flexibility and freedom for performers with at the same time an unmistakable irreducible identity."
