(Not counting Devo and Pussy Galore, which would be unfair competition) So far, my favorites are Half Japanese's Paint It Black and The Monster's Play with Fire.

Ananda Shankar's version of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" on his first record on Reprise (1970) is really good. His idea was to fuse Indian sitar with Western pop and rock backings (and some moogs and things--"the most modern electronic devices"), and it's played with enough conviction to pull it off.
