yes i got the freight train one by elizabeth cotten, i had never heard her but after listening to "going down the road feelin bad" i was hooked. mountain music of kentucky and dock boggs were other great ones i snagged. i think the rest were from their music of indonesia series and from their small (but amazing!) electronic/ experimental section

This is amazing stuff...

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

Hans Abrahamsen - Schnee (Winter & Winter)

Worth checking out. This is what the composer says about this:
"In the beginning of the '90s, I arranged 7 of J.S. Bach's canons for ensemble. I became totally absorbed with this music and arranged them with the intention of the music being repeated many, many times, as a kind of minimal music. Obviously, I didn't know which durations Bach had in mind, but by listening to his canons in this way, a profound new moving world of circular time was opened to me. Schnee, consisting of canon 1 and 2, will form part of the complete work that will consist of a number of canons written for various line-ups within the Ensemble Recherche."

Blood Axis - (2010) Born Again [cd,Storm]

The long awaited new Blood Axis album. A far cry from Moynihan's 90es genre-defining efforts, but nonetheless great. One of the best neofolk releases I heard in recent times.

I don't know whether BBC radio gets out abroad online (I think it does), but anyway there was a nice Radio 3 programme with music by Skempton, Feldman, Cardew and Wolff, featuring John Tilbury, which is worth a listen...

yes, on Kye, I think it's an edition of 100 and out in a couple of weeks. I'll have them at ErstDist, happy to reserve them for anyone who e-mails me.

Barry Chabala/Daniel Jones - "Undercurrents"
I've been kind of out of the loop for a little while on the new releases, haven't been inspired to do much listening lately. I have listened to this a few times in the last couple of days though and I seem to enjoy it even more each time...

King Übü Örchestrü - Trigger Zone

Some stunning individual free improv on this disc, which despite the large number of participants, remains sober and calculated throughout. Amazing stuff from folks like Fernando Grillo, Paul Lytton , Radu Malfatti, Axel Dörner, Phil Wachsmann, etc.
Don't think I heard of Wolfgang Fuchs (or this group) before. Anywhere else to look in his discography?

the previous King Ubu record, Binaurality, is much better. Trigger Zone is kind of a documented disaster, you can read some of the details in the liner notes.
