I saw one of those Showroom Dummies performances in Paris a while back (with Brian O maybe?), I can't say I got much out of it, but that might have been me more than it.

Peter's earlier releases certainly shine over his recent output (R/S excluded). "7 tons..." has never been a favorite of mine but "Get Down" and "Get Out" are superb. "Passt" with Raymond Bauer is a classic and one of my favorite CD's of it's kind.

I found this recording on Archives (http://www.archive.org/details/slap005) the other day, a live set at CBGB's. Fans of "Get Down" will hear some familiar themes. It's a solid set but the recording quality is a bit rough.

nice find Ian! I'm enjoying listening to this a lot right now.

heh, for the sake of accuracy, I was at that show, which was downstairs at CBGB's, not the main room, with the audience all seated. so the description there of it being a "Rare American rock club performance" isn't really accurate, not that it changes the music at all.

Are you talking about the gallery space that was next door or was there another basement beneath the club? The only basement I can remember was the dungeon of a bathroom at the back of the club. The first time I saw a show there I was amused that the men's room was directly in front of the stairwell with a single toilet with no stall doors. I wondered how many times someone had walked down to use the bathroom to see someone awkwardly sitting on top of the throne.

maybe the gallery space next door? it was a reasonably sized room, and I thought downstairs with an entrance at the front of the club, but maybe not. definitely not the main CBGB's, though...

I remember this set, it was part of the Phonotaktik festival that the Austrian Cultural Forum put on. I can't remember if this was the same year that he did a DJ set, where 1/2 of the set was noise and black metal, kind of what you would expect. After that he played a long Peter Sotos collage and then all of Corrupted's 'Paso Inferior'.

Pita is the best.

I have a copy of this 3" that I was going to put on eBay - anyone here want to make me an offer before I do that...?

(this is gone now, by the way...)

I found this video (http://tinyurl.com/yarmavd) interview with Peter the other day while digging around the web. It's close to an hour long, covering a lot of grounds such as his collaborations, composing methods, running Mego, etc. Definitely worth watching if you're a fan.

If somebody is interested in the vinyl version of "get down": give me a good offer and it's yours. It's in a really good shape. mail me at petercousaert@hotmail.com
