I like the single 'Volcano' quite a bit and am excited to hear the rest of the album

I really like the production on 'Ghostdini' especially the 'guest house' track, kind of reminds me of a ghostface produced beat (havent checked the prod. credits?), he tends to just take an old soul track and arrange it slightly differently (see: 'Holla' off Pretty Tony.. my favorite Ghost track, that and the track about the Sun w/ Slick Rick off Bulletproof Wallets)

I wouldn't have expected it but I keep coming back to La Chat's 'Da Hood Homegirl' record. It's good .. w/ cameos from Pastor Troy, Gangsta Boo .... and it includes a pretty hilarious remake of slob on my knob called slob on my cat

I found the record quite uninspiring unfortunately. It's got good bits but doesn't get nearly as interesting as their earlier releases in my opinion. I saw them live in a little club in Brighton recently however and they were brilliant!

That's a good one, I check it out a fair bit too. Also, Gangsta Boo has a new mixtape out (first new material in a while) and although it's not great there's a spiffy redo of the beat from Portishead's 'Humming' on a track called 'Silent Nite' which comes off pretty well.

Agreed. It seems like they've outgrown the weirdness that used to make them great.

It was better than I thought, the Anti Pop Record. But still pretty uninspiring. A sense the reunion was for all the wrong reasons. They'd be touring now and again before the record came out, and it seems to me the record was to support the touring rather than the other way around.

Steve, have you heard GFK's debut and follow up lps? Measures above anything else he's put out, which is not bad at all. The songs you mentioned are good touches to those records but not bangers.

I haven't heard Iron Man in way too long, years actually. I'm familiar with alot of Supreme Clientele but not in its whole form (although I've got the instrumental album and some singles off of it).. I've been meaning to pick these up for a while actually, thx for the reminder

These guys put on the best live shows I've ever seen for a hip hop act. Do they still rock the MPC/synth set-up?? (It's been at least 6-7 years since I've seen em). Still haven't heard the new album yet and cant imagine them living up to the previous ones (although Arrythmia took a long time to grow on me), but I think ill like it more than the other projects by them the last few years. I like some of Beans solo tunes but cant take too much of just him in one sitting, and the Priest/Sayyid project (Airborne Audio) was disappointing from what Ive heard.
Is Shopping Carts Crashing worth checking out?? I find their EPs to be interesting but not great for the most part

Juicy J had a really good year, and I liked the DJ Paul album a lot too.

If you've kept up with any of the info on Guru's passing, and how his business associate Solar basically forged a letter from a dying man, then the above interview reveals how badly Solar controlled Guru's career and abused him - physically and mentally. Poor Guru.

Beyond just being a fan and wanting to see Guru and Premier back making another Gang Starr album, I hate to think Guru was spending his last years getting bullied around by this idiot Solar.
