I picked this up in Madison WI this weekend and I've just started to give it a listen. Since this is my first exposure to any recorded version of the Treatise, I don't have a reference to judge it by. So far it's largely fine, though the sax player has a tendency to get on my nerves...a lot.
We'll see...(or hear rather)

Enough so to have a little research for Earle Brown's music. I eventually found two more CDs the Earle Brown foundation produced. They send out the CDs freely, though a donation would be kind. Most of the recordings on those two CDs (lots of not-so-much-around larger ensemble/orchestral stuff!) are low-fi though, usually tape recordings made during a concert.
n.p.: Wolfgang Dauner Trio - radio broadcast from 1969 (guess with Weber + Braceful)
- a mix of groovy stuff with free/open playing, traditional jazz trio-sound alternating with synth-based "experimental" sections... none of which I found particularly convincing or interesting so far
On a recording of the Albert Mangelsdorff Quintett (1988) I listened to some days ago, Dauner's contributions really got on my nerves. A lot.
