Maybe you can exchange it with Sweet Cuts Distant Curves?
Nice list
I have played the King Geedorah to death

I was at that ATP, as was Nim Chimpsky. Marvellous indeed.Daniel Jones wrote: Also, with regards to Shellac - 1000 Hurts was my first exposure to them and does mean a lot to me as a record but Terraform has more longevity for me. "Didn't we deserve a look at you..." is particulalry fantastic and with the shorter punchier songs like Copper etc it just edges it for me. I have to admit that I don't actually own At Action Park and I also thought that their last record was quite weak.
Seeing them everyday at the ATP they curated was awesome though - easily the best thing every day. Marvellous!
Agreed. One thing I didn't get about this album is the running order. 'The End Of Radio' should so obviously be the last song on the album. The clue's in the title boys.Alastair wrote:Yeah, Excellent Italian Greyhound is not up to scratch IMO. Even strong songs like "The End Of Radio" don't seem to come off well.
Apologies for wandering off topic, but I just found the other day the sample that and a Tra La La is made from, it's from a recording of one of John Cage's String Quartetstadk wrote:have you heard http://www.editionsmego.com/twiki/bin/v ... e#emego050 ?Daniel Jones wrote:No particular order...
Jim O'Rourke - I'm Happy and I'm Singing and a 1,2,3,4
Hmm, very interesting. I always assumed it was just one of his own compositions - wsn't there a short 'un-tweaked' version on a Bitstreams compilation once or am I mistaken?Stephen wrote:Apologies for wandering off topic, but I just found the other day the sample that and a Tra La La is made from, it's from a recording of one of John Cage's String Quartetstadk wrote:have you heard http://www.editionsmego.com/twiki/bin/v ... e#emego050 ?Daniel Jones wrote:No particular order...

I started work on a top 100 list the other day and only managed to get to about 60 before starting to go mad. Contrary to popular opinion, I put Excellent Italian Greyhound on it.

a couple of the songs off of that are up there with my all-time favorites... the title track and "your pussy is glued to a building on fire" and the first song is pretty brutal too. i think i heard he's re-releasing that and niandra lades finally.Moon wrote: john frusciante -

Pardon the dumb question [I'm behind on current stuff], but is Shellac anything like Rapeman or Scratch Acid?schiksalgemeinschaft wrote:nice to read the love for shellac
get At Action Park indeed - as a whole I think that's still the strongest album, but it's a hard pick, since both terraform & 1000 hurts have incredible songs too. one way or the other, there should be a shellac album on my 10 desert island album list. in retrospect italian greyhound is a weak album, but I enjoyed it tremendously when it came out.
also, as a lyricist, albini is smashing.
& oh, best break ever: "...and left us naked out here in the sun..."
I have not heard "Singlar", will look for it. Happy Apple I like too.surfer wrote:Wow, Gul 3! I was just talking about them elsewhere, comparing the quieter sections of a Happy Apple concert I just saw to what they do. Truncated, reductive, discrete, but soulful. Though I do like both Gul 3 albums, I think I prefer Singlar actually.
cool list!
