The title of the album pictured 2 posts above is Cincinatti. Strong recording indeed! I really believe the Wiese/Yeh pairing is the best thing that happened to noise/improv in the last couple of years.

Definitely, I've been enjoying this a great deal. I've found it really mindful and considered, but it has a definite sense of fun as well.

Since acquiring this disc, I realized that "Cincinnati" is one of the tougher words to spell that I've come across. Hey, Wiese even misspelled it when submitting the disc to Discogs.com (http://www.discogs.com/John-Wiese-C-Spe ... se/1622728)!

"In 1970, Wyngarde recorded an album for RCA Victor entitled simply Peter Wyngarde and a single, La Ronde De L'Amour / The Way I Cry Over You. The album was reissued on CD as When Sex Leers Its Inquisitive Head. Unusually, Wyngarde did not deliver a set of easy listening standards but a most unusual collection of spoken word / musical arrangements.

The LP is believed to have been quickly withdrawn after its release, but has gained cult status in the intervening years.[10] Selections are often played on XM Radio's Internet-only retro-lounge channel 79, On the Rocks. On 13 Feb 2009 on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, singer Morrissey presented Ross with a signed copy of the album.

seriously? this is happening? yikes. i really like john's work, and generally trust his judgment/taste, but i'm worried about this. hope it's a better idea than the wolf eyes/braxton cd.

well to be fair WE/braxton was a spontaneous thing, on stage in front of rather a weird audience. the bad part of the idea is putting it on cd.

i expect interesting things out of parker vs. wiese, though i'm certainly ready to place any bets on loving it. but i have lots of happy evan parker memories and favorite evan parker records, i'd like to see him find something relevant to play in this context.

here's hoping.

this could be good. if parker and wiese traded off really loud fast blasts of sax/harsh noise it could be really cool. with wiese sounding like his recent solos-- contact mic + laptop, super hi-fi digital processing of traditional low-fi harsh noise sounds, all fast and bright and crackly. but i fear that this will be a more droney affair.

after he got home from that tour he did with parker etc, wiese set up this 13 piece improv show. it was awful. truly. the only thing i've ever really disliked that he was involved in. but the problem there may have been that he was playing old-style EFI inspired improv with a bunch of hipsters who have never heard an SME recording in their lives. insulting and depressing.

so i'm sorry. that probably tainted what should be high hopes for this cd.

speaking of wiese: has anybody heard the new 'glass' cd by sissy spacek? really stoked to check that one out. sounds pretty cool.

I didn't listen to this several years - it's FANTASTIC! I enjoy this immensely (I'm attached to this so much maybe partly because it was among the first 5 free jazz LPs I got to know, about 20 years ago).
