yeesh, it was a joke. my point is that a lot of those kids are young (and hence not worried about their retirement yet, don't have families, don't have health issues or fears yet, live cheaply, etc.), and i bet a certain chunk doesn't even support themselves fully (college kids and younger).

that's pretty short for a "lecture." i wasn't trying to demean carlos's accomplishment in any way, *i was making a tossed-off joke about the way no fun's demographic differs from the country at large.*

(at least all three of them are great, whether or not a trio makes sense.) but for a replacement for CON-DOM, i guess you need some screaming. i just think that if i were actually going this year, i'd be super disappointed that drumm finally agreed to show up but won't be playing anything i'm interested in.

i shouldn't open my mouth about any of this since i won't be there, and its no business of mine. wish i were going, but i had to cancel those plans. some of my good friends will be playing and i really didn't want to miss that.

Carlos wanted me to let people know that R/S will be playing first on Sunday per their request (it was the only way they could soundcheck), so that will be around 7 PM. see you there!

Based on feedback from a lot of people, Bastard Noise seems to have been the killer set so far. Would be curious to hear about the sets of Rafael Toral, C. Spencer Yeh and Trevor Tremaine (Saturday) and Conrad Schnitzler (Sunday).

C'mon there must be somebody here able to attend No Fun 09 and file a report!

I don't think Conrad Schnitzler is actually involved in that set tonight.

Schnitzler prepared a 4 channel stereo piece specifically for no fun, but he does not travel outside of where he lives anymore. The piece will be performed by Keith Fullerton Whitman.

Kevin Drumm is playing with Prurient because that is what Kevin Drumm wanted to do.

i expect the reviews will step up a level when people who're riding out the full fest have the energy recovered enough to write something about it. i wouldn't expect that before the end of the festival.

and i actually think drumm/prurient live duo could be pretty promising, though i hope they have new material.
