Re: Now playing
I'm currently having my first listen to this piece, thanks to finding it online. $28 is a bit much for me for a blind purchase (though admittedly, it is Eliane Radigue and Charles Curtis). I might just have to pony up that change though because, money matters aside, this is incredible.Jesse wrote:Second time through Radigue's Naldjorlak, this time reading cellist Curtis' extensive "liner notes."
In addition to the fantastic composing/playing, I must comment that the recording seems beautifully made. I feel as though I'm curled up inside Curtis' cello, enjoying the ride (vibe?) as he massages his way through its architecture. Wonderful.
Re: Now playing
Nice post, Tristan, agree about the recording of Curtis' cello.

mattin -- FEEDBACK CONCEPTUAL
not gonna make it for the duration, but the first part sounds good on work's shitty speakers
update: "The following plug-in has crashed: Shockwave Flash"
that's what you get for using proprietary software

My vinyl copy of this beautiful soporific has a perfect amount of surface crackles and pops now. Ashley sold them at his appearance at the Walker Art Center in 1980.

Re: Now playing
this is why i should probably pick this CD up. i was unimpressed with the piece when i heard it live because the room was so big, and though i was in the front row, it was hard to hear what was going on. a real nice recording, i'm sure, makes the piece much more understandable and enjoyable.tristan wrote:In addition to the fantastic composing/playing, I must comment that the recording seems beautifully made. continuous tabla beats, semi-cheesy synth washes and keyboard tinkling, and ashley's hypnotic voice over the top telling kind of dreamy, surreal stories about interior monologues.mono tony wrote:what does this sound like?Jesse wrote:
