Things you collect besides music

I'm interested in what other folks here collect besides records,cds,etc. I have a belief that record collecting falls under a part of a larger obssesive-compulsive disorder. Most of the collectors of records I know usually had at least one other thing that collected obssesively. My ex had an unsatiable fascination for bad Italian horror films, Nunsploitation films (as she called them, i've seen dozens and still don't really know what the hell they are),Mario Bava,etc.

oh my god, i saw one of these the other night... The Sinful Nuns of something or other... so bizarre.
I guess I collect .... um. Mainly just music, but some DVDs as well, like the Criterion stuff. DVDs don't feed the obsessive compulsive/collector side as well, because they're almost always mass-produced and rarely go out-of-print, since it's still such a young media. Not to say that's a bad thing, but I'm just less apt to rush out and buy DVDs at this point in my life, because I know they'll be around 5-10 years down the line, when I potentially have a better paying job and more expendable income.

recently it's been comics. of all sorts and kinds. but yeah. monthly comics and some trade paperbacks. some of them feed the collector fetishist sort of thing, some are just cool.

Wow a League of Gentlemen reference. Where are the (region 1) 2nd and 3rd seasons DVD's? (speaking of collecting)

Right after I posted that, I started wondering that myself, actually. I'm really loathe to buy a new region-free DVD player just to play British TV show DVDs, but I'm getting impatient. Doesn't look to be any plans for Region 1's of S2 & 3 at the moment either, since Amazon usually lists things well in advance of their release...

copies of 'iaccoca' by lee iaccoca. honest. i think i'm up to 19 or 20 copies. i just can't help myself, they are at every thrift store i go to.

I collect books as feverishly as I do music, and i have the same problems. Instead of working to create a strongly founded and durable library, I just hop from fixation to fixation, with no consideration for the whole.
I also (casually) collect old cameras.

Cool. I've have several of those old lomo cameras (I own a more recent l-ca too). Those are a lot of fun.
I also collect music equipment (effects pedals, rackmount effects, oscillators, unique instruments, cymbals, gongs and anything with interesting sonic potential). Books and magazines tend to pile up everywhere 'cause I can't seem to get rid of anything. This is a tendency I've had (to collect, I mean) since I was a kid. I chalk it up to an overactive imagination and growing up poor.
Oh yeah, and of course records, cd's, cassettes and whatnot... that's my main collecting love.
This reminds me of the 'too much stuff' thread. I enjoy most of the other shit kent (I think) mentioned in his thread, but accumulating too much (?) stuff is a habbit I just can't break.

No seriously, though, I don't collect anything. Not even music or music gear. When I accumulate a bunch of either it ends up getting bequeathed to my friends who like it or need it more than I do. I don't even know what happened to my drum kit, amps, trombone, or leslie tube organ anymore. Hopefully still in Potland somewhere.
Oh, I guess I collect cds from friends and playing partners. I don't often part with them.

I have virtually every system except from the original era. Crap like the Jaguar, 3-D0, CD-I, Game.Com, I have all of it and plenty of games for them.
I've been hunting down lots of 2600 stuff recently. From that time period I only have the 2600 and Intellivision. I'd like to get more.
It's not as expensive as it sounds, most of this stuff I've gotten years after they've been released for cheap prices. Really old classic stuff is pricey though...

psone rpgs are way overpriced as are N64 games.
and then there is stuff like Radient Silvergun and some saturn games that are pretty fucking expensive considering they are pretty average.
