idk, the site is so huge. I guess I'd have to say the least appealing part of it is the Aspen magazine. I would much rather have the magazine with the box and everything in my hands than displayed on the website the way it is. Otherwise, I have no quams with it. The films are great, I just watched Balkan Baroque, which was good, except the video quality was like around a C+. A lot of the interviews with people like Man Ray and Fluxist people are cool. The literature is nifty too, tons of interesting essays and poems.

yeah, this is true. there is just too much good stuff on the site. the film section is just too good. and there's tons and tons of films on the site. too good.

Is there some reason why ubuweb isn't hosting that avant garde project dude's rips?

ACE! Thanks. I have been desperate to see this for a while.

For my money, the most revelatory thing I have seen has been the films of Toshio Matsumoto. Especially Song of Stone which is an almost wordless (which is good because it is in Japanese with no subs) experimental documentary about a quarry done completely with stills (a la La Jetee).

Some of the Matsumoto films are definitely 'of their time' but that didn't stop me getting immense pleasure out of pretty much all of them.

the Vienna Aktionist films are good for rainy days. they're just so gross. haven't seen them all though. always surprising.

One of my favorite recorded things ever.

I haven't had a good dig around over there in a long time, but they have / had a great 3 hour interview with Henry Flynt from WFMU on there, which I've listened to a number of times; such a weirdly compelling character.

Pity that's all they seem to have, since they briefly mention the Pauline Oliveros interview from the week before.

nice! this is the CD that got me introduced me to this area of music when, as a nascent Keith Rowe junkie, i impulsively bought it after my first visit to the beautiful new waterfront ICA building back in 2006. very inspirational.

Just came across this last night, something I've been wanting to see for ages: Gary Hill's Soundings, a video piece of various "processual rituals" performed on a speaker cone - burying, piercing, drowning etc.
