John Norton (aka jesus marion joseph) has died

Just wanted to make mention of that here. Excellent guy, laid back and fun-loving. Lived on Cape Cod with his wife and pets. Too young. Seemed to be getting more politically liberal each year. Loved the outdoors. Took great pictures. Posted here on the sports board. Was a lawyer practicing in Hyannis, sometimes doing criminal work defending petty perps. Told wonderful stories about them--and the judges he interacted with. Believed everybody had a right to a decent defense.

Met up with him only three times. Once in Eastham, once in Vermont, once (just last summer) in P-Town. Always was fun. Great guy to have a beer with--unassuming, light-hearted, non-judgmental.

It must be over a week ago now, but I can't get my mind around this yet. Such a sweet man.

Yes, I had heard this through Facebook. He was "jmj" here. I am very sad to hear this, quite a shock.

Not sure how I missed this thread when walto first posted it, but jmj's widow recently "liked" a post I made some time ago on his FB page. Though I was unable to meet her in person (she was under the weather when we were there) walto had spoken quite highly of her when we hung out in Boston.

Really kind of made the whole thing fresh again.

Everything walto said about him is 100% true, and then some. So glad I was able to spend a regrettably brief time with him on Cape Cod.

Will never stop missing him.

Those who never got to meet him in person really missed out.
