Re: Paris Transatlantic Spring 2012 issue online

to my recollection it is rows alternating whole-notes on a page, no staff. the rows vary in length from a few dots to maybe eight (?) . Actually, that's the OTHER piece we recorded that day but didn't make it onto the album ;) The score to 'un lieu' is even subtler: pairs of numbers on otherwise em...

Re: Now Playing

Honestly, if someone is really turned off by something I release - my own music, my label, what have you - I'd love them to post their feelings in a place I can find too. I'm sure there's some negative opinions floating around but nobody puts them in writing unless they're sufficiently complimentary...

Re: Now Playing

Assuming there's the slightest odds of Morrissey stumbling on my cover, let's hope he doesn't mind. or at least doesn't care. and in case "thanks to mr. Yi" wasn't clear, you can apparently stream the tape now via bandcamp: http://pilgrimtalk.bandcamp.com/album/im-sick-of-coming-up-with-titles glad ...

Wombatz wrote: since the CFYR guys always seem to jump on the weird quotes I was rather worried they’d want to put that as a blurb on the second edition.
I guess I do resemble that remark. but we'll let your comments slide this time ;)

Re: Now Playing

I think the point Wombatz is making is that he's heard the sound of a musician practicing a classical piece enough for a lifetime. so, he doesn't understand the appeal specifically of the opening segment of "Perhaps a Favorable Organic Moment." (Though I don't know why that leads him to dismiss the ...

Re: Now Playing

With Grob, For4Ears, Formed, Confront, Trente Oiseaux, and so many others gone or near gone, it's harder to follow trends and open up fronts for discussion, unless one follows the many self-promoting labels that have sprung up lately. Also I find that for some reason with the latter it's much harde...

A RARE EXPERIENCE - AS THE FABULOUS COMBINATION OF VANILLA-RICH OAK AND A CRISPY, SWEET MALT JOINS IN THE EXCITEMENT. THIS RAINBOW OF AROMAS CONTINUES WITH AIR: HONEYSUCKLE DRIFTS BY, AS DO HINTS OF BRINE, AND FINALLY THE OAK RISES TO EMBRACE THE MORE DELICATE SCENTS, ADDING MATURITY AND CALM. can ...

Re: Playback - CDs or Files?

I'm really bad at organizing data. I pretty much only listen to physical media when I'm home. cds, tapes, records. the laptop I use for most web browsing is also unusually terrible at streaming video and audio. so I mostly compile lists of links to check out on a different machine later. but forget ...

Re: the ethics of file-sharing in experimental music

People take it more seriously now, since we are still stuck in the old mindset of having labels curate stuff for us, but as they become less important, people won't dismiss an album just because it's self released. the promotion point is sticky. it's not about whether people "dismiss" self-releases...

re: Luka's sampling...

I found Slugabed on the boring side. The Mural album is very nice but isn't really the kind of thing that rocks my world. However, the Denzler solo....... were I to make like a top 20 or 25 of the year, it would stand pretty good odds of locking in a spot on the list.

Re: First steps in the tremendous world of modular systems

not a dumb question! it can all get pretty confusing.

but yes, any VCO I've encountered, Doepfer included, will produce sound without being fed any control voltages. but it can then additionally be modulated by those CV inputs.

no, aside from that, it's actually a rather good article. especially for introducing someone to Graham's work. just struck me as an odd mistake that I might as well poke fun at.

Actually I got my copy of Blue Before Blackface the other day. my disc 1 was damaged so I've gotta email Tom. but it started well until it started skipping. and disc 2 totally ruled. the material retains an incredibly live feel but is expertly re-composed as well. full of everything from fully aggre...
