Re: Reich!

Those dead ends aside: digital phone recordings sounds terrible, no matter how emotional. I got very sad when I heard wtc for the first time because of it, I wanted to at least listen to it for the emotional content. He can still make beautiful melodies, even if they aren't as relevant. But those vo...

Re: experimental \ noise music performance in a sound sculpt

Do you have a little bit more information about it?

Is it just for performance or can the audience play it? Is it still open to the gallery when there is no performance happening?

Re: I want to make power electronics

If you're going for the analog noisy pedal sounds then the classic is the fuzz pedals. Get one with lots of texture knobs, like the Fuzz Factory (boo, overpriced) or one of Devi Ever's pedals that will take a lot longer to learn how to play, but also has crazy things like joysticks and built in feed...

Snail, you're awesome, thanks so much.
Wyschnegradsky is pretty much exactly what I was hoping to find!

I'll listen to those other suggestions, too, so thanks for those!

Commercial 5.1 for the composers

Does anyone here have experience composing music (not for movies) for commercial 5.1 systems? I know how to mix 5.1, and multichannel in general, on the software side well enough. I want to find out if there's a way to compose using a normal store-bought home cinema system, what interfaces are good ...

Re: The (Classical) Piano Thread

Are there any microtonal piano pieces, not experimental (beyond being microtonal), you could recommend? I'm not sure if a 36 notes to an octave piano exists, but if it does then I'm sure you guys know about it. Love that slightly seasick feeling from changing between just intoned chords before it b...

Re: Integrated ideology in music

I remember first reading about how Stockhausen might have been a secret fascist.

I thought at the time that was kind of obvious with the way his music is. I'd much rather have a musical fascist than a physical one.
