Re: Recently Watched Films 2015
The bicycle race ending to Sombre caught me off guard as well. Someone on Hipinion, the other board I post on, described it as "a bit of a j'accuse moment aimed at petit-bourgeois France," which I thought was interesting.

Yes, "too stylish" is an apt way of summing up my reaction. Honestly don't think I got more than like a half hour in before I http://img.pandawhale.com/post-24400-Seinfeld-thats-enough-gif-nHrW.gif I hadn't seen your Sombre post yet when I posted about WHtTAK, but it dovetails nicely because it's my...

since i so regularly agree with your sentiments, a positive take on this one—which i found so bad i had to turn off—is interesting to me.Dan Warburton wrote:

Re: Now Playing
That Alvear on Potlatch was lovely—perhaps even more spare than I was expecting. I have his effort for Rhizome.s lined up today. Additionally, I've recently enjoyed these: Metzengerstein - Albero Specchio http://f1.bcbits.com/img/a0769054018_2.jpg Schnellertollermeier - X http://i.imgur.com/64f3Z0v....

Re: Now Playing
that alvear potlach release looks great. would like to hear some samples, but i'm having trouble locating. i have no use for a CD, but i'd be inclined to buy it digitally if that were an option.

My favorite of the new batch. I'd call it one of the best Erst efforts of the past few years.

I, too, rate this release highly, although I recall not caring for the vocals on the second track. The last song is one of the best things they've ever written, though.Skuj wrote:Acid Mothers Temple - In 0 to Infinity.
This may actually be their (unheralded) masterpiece.

I loved both of these. Prior to viewing, I'd only seen The Draughtsman's Contract from Greenaway. Can't wait to continue the journey.

Haven't caught this one yet, but it sounds right up my alley. For other Benning, I would say that Ten Skies, 13 Lakes, and RR are musts, with Ruhr, Small Roads, and El valley centro not too far behind.Dan Warburton wrote:James Benning, Four Corners, 1997

Re: Bring the (harsh) noise !
monorail is definitely one of the noise labels that i trust inherently; will listen to anything they put out and likely buy the digital of it (which i think it's awesome they do) b/c i'm not much for tapes (speaking of "inherently," i know it's kind of inherently silly to dig monorail but not be all...
