ill second wilco. zzzzzz. 11 year bump!! I sped through this thread and saw Wilco mentioned more than a couple of times. Do some people here still feel this way in 2015? God I love them, especially the new one - Star Wars. YHF is certainly one of the greatest "song" albums ever imho. I cry when I g...

Diverting this to film adaptations momentarily if I may: Is Branagh's Hamlet great? I'm trying to imagine Heston, Williams, Crystal and Lemmon not making me laugh when I shouldn't. The whole play (ie every line) is in this film, apparently. Does it work? Quoting myself....I absolutely loved this fi...

What's your favourite Shakespeare play then? And why? I'm not very qualified to answer this yet because I am very recently turned on to the brilliance of this work. (I'm 53. I know, right?) But I think Macbeth is a very early favourite, due to it's concise mix of themes on ambition, supernatural, mu...

The new Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly, is rockin' my world.

Acid Mothers Temple - In 0 to Infinity.

This may actually be their (unheralded) masterpiece.

Jean Vigo's tiny filmography is also essential (he shares similar poetic/surreal sensibilities with Cocteau). his films are inexplicably unavailable on DVD in the US though, so the internet is the easiest way to see them at the moment: À Propos de Nice (1930): http://video.google.com/videoplay?doci...

I adore the former. How do you like the latter?

I expect he will be even less public because of the film.

CD2 of the rather excellent Merzbient 12CD box.

The dotolim crew avoid these pitfalls and continue to do refreshing work, stripped of histrionics but incorporating risk and embracing failure more voraciously than any other music I've encountered. I am  as I ask "What is the dotolim crew?" My internet searching skills are obviously quite la...

Not sure if a) I will be driven out of IHM for this and b) if this thread is the best place to bring this up, but.... Bull Of Heaven I love these guys. They seem to be best known for the amount of vitriol that is directed their way. While I think they have a good sense of humour (they need it!), I a...

Akasha Gulva remains my alltime favourite Merzdisc. When I first heard it I literally puked. I never really cared for this stuff, but this statement made me curious. I spent some time with this one (not the complete 73 min though). I'm sure that sitting with headphones in front of a pc listening to...

Bemp! I'm a Merzboxee. The Merzbox must be the most ridiculous and satisfying object that I own. Merzbient and Merzphysics are also very worthy sets in my collection. I think Mr Akita is a psychedelic Noise genius. Is there much love for Merz at IHM? Akasha Gulva remains my alltime favourite Merzdis...

William Basinski - Disintegration Loops 1.

I have the box set with the 4 parts on 4 CDs, plus a live version on a 5th disc. Does this get lots of love at IHM? This music never fails to mesmerize me. And this box set is extremely beautiful and generous.

Just want to add that these are my exact sentiments also. Thank you IHM for my continued musical learnings.

Electric Wizard tour!! I'll see them Apr 14th.

Bach Partitas - Igor Levit.

Sunday night Bach is a tradition of mine. Dude left behind an ocean of magnificent music.

Kevin Drumm - Land Of Lurches. Twice.
Electric Wizard - Time To Die
Flaming Lips - The Terror

I saw the Swans live a couple of weeks ago. I found them to be wimpy most of the time. I was quite disappointed and wouldn't go a second time. If "To be kind" was the best rock record of the century so far, I'd be an unhappier person. Wimpy? Man, you must be some badass motherfucker!! :o Seriously ...
