Masaaki Yuasa Probably MIND GAME (2004) is the main recommendation but everything he's done is amazing one way or another. If you want a series his Kemonozume or Kaiba are highly recommended, and his latest Tatami Galaxy is superb too but maybe not the best first introduction to his work for someon...

I got about halfway through season one of boardwalk empire, then breaking bad season 4 started.

I was enjoying it, but not unreservedly.

The series on folkways is the best I've heard, although the Arnhem Land posted above is also good. Admittedly, Sean is a very close friend, but yeah, this. Also, the Talia/Rushford lp on Bocian is also killer. They had a good year, IMO.
